combustion chamber... sorry... typo error.. meant expansion chamber.

My exhaust system is as such. The manifold and headers are stock. Their experience with the Matiz has been that changing the headers didn't make any difference and the design of the manifold is such that changing it too won't make any big difference at all. Looking at all permutations and combinations, here's what i fitted...

Expansion chamber
Intermediate pipes
Muffler
Tail-piece

The total cost of which has turned out to be Rs. 4k. My guess for the Palio is in the range of 6-7k for the whole system. A K&N for a 1.6 GTX costs around 3.5 k for a flat type. Conical prices are not known to me and neither is for a cold air-intake. Mumbai should be slightly higher than Bangalore primarily cause the competition for quality aftermarket exhaust systems is not as much as in Bangalore.

Revv

P.S. Go on to automechexhausts.com and check out if they have something on the GTX

How much did the job cost you btw?

Dippy
Hi Dippy

The job on your car will entail a whole change, from headers to muffler and tail-piece. The thing with the Zen is they generally don't do only muffler and intermediate pipe only. If you do the whole hog, it should cost u around 6.5-7k.This is a quote i got for my Zen MPfi. It might be a lil' different for a carbuerretted one.

You can ask for a toned down sound and it will be done. The performance kick you'd get though should be staggering. Speak to Ajay or Vivek, i think they should sort it out. Maybe you could also just change a few of the components and get some performance and sound for less than the price i told you.

Happy free-flowing

Revv
Rev - you've given me great incentive..
Dippy letme know if/when you speak to the automech guys. Might put on some upgrades on dad's zen ('95 carburetted) next time i'm in India.

When I ordered my exhaust system from automech it cost me 3000Rs headers , muffler and a pipe line but I wasnt pleased with the muffler or the sound it gave out and I had specified that I wanted a rally muffler so what I did was leave on the headers and installed a stainless steel muffler from abroad and after doing so the changes in performance and pick up was great and the sound of the muffler was amazing

Does anyone know of an automech equivalent in Bangalore? The automech website mentions a place called Mini Kraft in Bangalore as their dealers. Has anyone dealt with them? Any experiences?

Thanks,
Amitoj

actually this was in 2001 that the free flow for a carb zen costed around 5k
i had met the Automech guys yesterday and they have said that the cost in mumbai itself is around 7K.so when u want to get it outside mumbai, definitely, the freight costs, and other factors wud push the cost upwards.
