Fully agree.

However, it's an interesting idea and implementation, even in it's first Avatar.
Given that they have a partnership already going with Vega, maybe they should try to collaborate on a helmet model(s) with the cooler integrated and not a strap on. That way some of the concerns that you rightly raise can be perhaps mitigated in a better way. For example -
- The helmet casing itself would provide for the cooling unit, leading to better integration and saving weight.
- The straps won't be required, which is again a weight saving as well as a safer proposition in case of a crash.
- It's also possible to better distribute the cooling unit (split on both sides) when integrated inside the helmet casing.
- The battery can be relocated towards the neck thereby removing it from the direct hit zone and leading to better weight distribution.

BLUSNAP2 LAUNCHED IN INDIA AT RS 2,299 --> Helmet cooler we all have been waiting for?

Found this interesting piece of news on Overdrive hence sharing.

A really nifty gadget to have for a very reasonable price. In fact at this price, its a good one to own even for those occasional rides in the summer when it gets crazy hot on the way back home.

Need to dig deeper a bit to understand what is the life of a single filter and the cost of a replacement filter. The battery life of 10hrs is absolutely sufficient for a days riding. Now only if someone comes out with a reasonably priced riding jacket with a cooler of sorts!

The BluSnap2 helment cooler can be attached to the existing full-face helmet. It has been made lighter and smaller than the previous. The improved cooling is a result of the the better air flow dynamics and the new vent design. The design of the BluSnap2 has been tweaked with a modular grill paired with colour hues that will be offered as add-ons. Aptener claims that the industry-standard chin-mount on the BluSnap2 is quick and easy to install and offers excellent high-speed stability. The cooling mechanism has been worked upon too with an improved water management system where the user needs to submerse the removable filter in water for 10s. The company also claims the temperature inside the helmet is up to 15 degrees cooler than that of the ambient condition. The BluSnap is powered by a rechargeable battery that offers 10h of run-time on a full charge

Good share, though I'm a bit skeptic about how our sinuses would react to long-term use.

Would be helpful if the doctors of TeamBhp could share their thoughts.

Great idea but I am unsure how it would affect helmet integrity and safety in case of a crash.
On the Plus side though, more folks would opt for full face helmets to attach this

BluArmor BluSnap2 helmet cooler launched

Aptener Mechatronics has launched BluSnap2 - an upgraded version of the helmet cooler that was introduced in January 2018. The new model comes with a new design and has additional features. It is priced at Rs. 2,299.

Like the first iteration, BluSnap2 attaches to a full-face helmet. It is claimed to be lighter and smaller than its predecessor. It comes with a modular grille and a new vent design. The company claims that the changes have resulted in 25% better airflow than the old model. BluSnap2 can be attached to the helmet using a chin mount and is offered with extensions to fit specific helmets.

BluSnap2 features a removable anti-bacterial filter, which needs to be dipped in water for 10 seconds before installation. It uses a rechargeable battery that powers a fan to blow air through the filter, which also traps residual dust particles. The company claims that it can reduce the temperature inside the helmet by 15 degrees Celsius compared to the ambient temperature. It also has a de-fogging feature. The battery is claimed to have a run-time of 10 hours on a full charge.

BluArmor has partnered with Vega Auto to sell BluSnap2 at their retail outlets.

I think it should be fine in terms of safety because I feel that this gadget is going to be used by enthusiasts only.

Nowadays many of us use a GoPro at the same spot.

I don't see a commuter buying a gadget for Rs. 2K + as their helmets are just for the sake of it.

The good thing about v2 is that it looks like it can be used with modular helmets too
