Performance mods for NHC Vtec

My dad is thinking of modding the Vtec a bit. All performance mods.

I am thinking of a K&N filter, free flow exhaust and headers.

Any other suggestions ??

And where to buy the stuff from ?? A good place to get it installed ?? A good reliable place i.e

Thanks in advance

Nikhil

I guess on a stage one I would reccomend anything else, but I would strongly say dont change the headers as they are well tuned by Honda them selves unless you want a drastic change in the performance in a completely diff rev band.

you wouldnt recommend anything else or you WOULD recommend something else ??

So, you say, only air filter and free flow exhaust would be fine ?

Sorry, my mistake... what I meant was that I wouldnt reccomend anything else. You could however mod the car completely but it would be unfair for me to list out the mods till you are sure on what you require.

No.... My dad sure doesnt want to go all the way like you Psycho

Some basic performance mods will be enough for now.

Anyway will give you a call soon..... Dad's name is Ravi BTW. Mostly he will be the one calling you.

Hope the mods dont kill me for this :P.

Am bumping thist hread because my dad has finally decided to mod the car. He has given himself a deadline of October (assuming everything goes to plan).

The basic mods we are thinking of are these.

1). K&N air filter (the best performance one)
2). Better exahust (not a free flow one, but a tuned one for best performance).
3). Iridium spark plugs.

Any more advice ??

Dont waste money on the spark plugs. Have read on this very forum that they really aint worth the money you spend.

Depends on what compression your engine is running. Changing spark plugs on certain higher comp engines helps a little. But I'm not too sure about the NHC.

It's quiet long We've heard from you Nikhil. Where have you been?

What? Are you adding that sticker as part of the performance Mods?

Same suggestion here too. Don't get iridium plugs unless it gives you a lot mental satisfaction. It is only worth going for if you have played around with your pistons and comp ratios. The stock ones from Honda would be fine for your idea of Mods I guess. Don't go for a very big air filter unless you have a good free flow setup. A good conical one would do with your stock manifold and performance end can. Keep an eye on Green cotton filters. Seems to be a good alternative to K&Ns.

yes, it's been a really really long time.

And the sticker is just for fun... we had it on our past two cars and now it has become a tradition. Every time my dad buys a new car, a big Ferrari sticker on the Black bonnet is necessary :P

Ok... ditch the spark plugs.

Thing is, we dont mind going all out with regards to the filter and the exhaust.

Agreed it'll help on a high compression engine but that would probably need new camshafts, con rods and what not... don't think its really valid in Nikhil's case since the NHC Vtec chassis struggles to tame the 100 odd bhp it has in the first place.
