corolla sucking hot air

hi i ve got a corolla with a k and n typhoon intake its a short ram one and i feel its sucking in hot air aftr bout 20 mins i feela slight drop in power i have the tube from the air box to a space below still intact though the k and n manual says it shud be removed it just goes too a hole its not directed towards the air flow or any thing will i be better off without it???? will fresh air come up from the hole without the snorkel??

i am also thinkin of getting a scoop or vent in the car which would be more benificial considering air flow i ve got a black car and i dont want anythin too flashy buts thats secondary

also wat are carbon fibre hoods???
