Manveets Moms Ride

Ok. We got rid of my Mom's 2000 model WagonR today morning - this thread is dedicated to her NEW ride.

Although I haven't decided on the car, I'm mostly thinking in terms of a Swift or a Getz. The car has to be purchased in the next 10-12 days so options such as the Jazz/Punto are not being considered.

My mom has straightaway ruled out any variation of white/ grey/ black/ silver color. Maroon is a no-no although she may consider blood/passion Red - she's more like "I want a yellow automatic small car". Unfortunately the Swift and Getz don't come in either AT or Yellow; and the Santro which does come in both is too small.

So, as of now I'm leaning towards a Getz in the limited edition Lavender color thats just been released.

And btw, this thread intends to span the entire ownership experience of the ride - right from the purchasing decision to naming the car to the mods that go into it etc. - Believe you me, it's going to be a fun thread !!

Unlike our other 2 cars, this is the first car that i'll be involved in right from day 1. (My OHC got handed down to me and I had no say in the color - theres not much you can do when you get a 6 year old OHC in maharaja gold !! - although i've tried my best )

If things go like I envision them to, don't be surprised if we get a lavender Getz on the forum with pink decals, low profiles and a sweet sounding exhaust !!

Great. Pink car. Some nice slogan on the rear windcreen should go down well with the overall theme.

How about a yellow Zen Estilo ? Or will it feel like the Wagon-R has changed colour ?

So which has more priority here ? Colour or AT ? The colour you could change later too.

I'm actually considering a segment above the wagonR/ santro/ estilo etc.

I'm having second thoughts on the lavender though .. only reason being that I wouldn't want to be seen in it .. forget about getting it to a TBhp Meet ..

I mean what would be the point of modding a car if only you Mom/wife would drive it ..

The AT has more priority .. as I can work around the color and theme. But the Santro is definately out.

Question is - Is there any other hatch in a higher segment than the Santro/WagonR that has an AT option ? .

p.s.
I can considering increasing the budget provided the car remains a hatch.

regards

Why don't you buy that last-gen CRV that everyone keeps spotting in Delhi? It's pink, and I would guess it's AT as well. And you could stretch the definition of hatch to include it.

The last generation CR-V is yellow, the latest generation is Pink. Both belong to the same guy who's in his late 40's-early 50's. I know because we both get the work done in the same garage. Never asked him the reason for the colours though!!

EDIT: Some pictures to refresh your memory!

Nope, no hatch other than Santro/WagonR with an AT option.

The only options are : Santro, Wagon R, Honda City, Toyota Corolla, Chevrolet Optra, Honda CRV and Honda Civic.

Hey Manveet, NHC CVT is the only "good" Auto around, but then its not 1 segment but 2 segments above the wagonR.
So i suggest you stick to Getz, and maybe convert it to auto-clutch later on.

How about:

Mannu ni Mummi di Gaddi...

Just kidding, buddy. Although the slogan does go well with the Lavender / Pink.

And I like the lavender colour option. And I'm man enough to say it.

elfman,

You took the words right outta me mouth. The other slogan I had in mind was " NO. I'M NOT GAY" !

It would really complete the theme of this pink car, as I said earlier

Umm, No.

"NO. I'M NOT GAY" will not go very well with "YESSS! I LOVE YOU GUNBIR". I vividly remember Manveet saying that.
