My friend has an Optima Yellow Top Battery lying with him in Calcutta, he cannot find time to go to the Skoda showroom as he is busy with his company's new software release but wants to get it installed somewhere locally,
now Cal people,
Can anyone suggest a mech who can do the same in around Lake town without mucking up anything ?
He lives on Bangur Avenue.
Any help will be much appreciated.

there is a big battery dealer near Minto Park who does home delivery and installation of new batteries + lends batteries for a minimal charge. but i am not sure as to whether they will do the delivery @ lake town. the name of the shop is Vikaas (dealer of all reputed brands).

shuvc stays @ lake town. get in touch with him / PM him for any kind of help for dealers / mechs in that area (bangur / lake town).

in case he plans to change to Exide batteries - he can ask the batt-mobile guys to do the battery change at his place. their ph number @kolkata: 22844564-70.

for details on octy service centre PM shuvd. he owns an octy here in kolkata.

i have no idea about mechs who can do the installation properly. getting touch with shuvc / shuvd seems to be the best option

I would say not to buy the optima....I myself bought it and it worked only for 3 months after that it failed....and I did not got any replacement of it either....I would say go for another brand or battery with good replacement warranty.......

People
1. He has bought the battery, its lying with him
2. He needs someone to fix it.

Don't know about skoda but in every other car I have seen fitting a battery is easier than changing tires. So I guess anybody can do it.

I think he stays in the same apartment building as I do, if this is a yellow car with Kendo stickers ... don't know him personally though.

No idea about good car electricals shops in Lake Town - I guess most such garages are in and around the Park Circus area. But then again, to echo @tsk's words, I don't get the complexity here - is there any special way to fit these batteries on Skodas ?

There is a problem with Skoda car batteries.. The terminals are reverse from the normal ones.. I mean the negative is on the left and postive on the right.. Just got to know about it when i changed my battery last month..So please make sure the battery bought is actually the one that fits...
