Left Hand Drive Tata Sierra..(sorry no pics)

Yes!!
Thats what I spotted today..
A LEFT Hand Tata Sierra..

It was painted in White and Red Combo like the one we see in a Pajero.
Had this huge chrome bull guard..and some nice chrome wheels..

Also It had SIERRA Written on both the sides but in Marathi..and that too huge..
I could also see a American like No. plate..
A small Merc logo ..A Left hand drive warning..

And a MH NO. plate in Marathi..

So were TATA exporting these cars??

Yes, Sierras were imported as Tata Gurkhas, along with the Telcoline. It was replaced by the Safari atleast in the UK market.

I've seen a LHD Sumo but only once in Delhi & this was around 2002-2003. No idea where it was meant for though.

I am not kidding, but in Sion there once used to be a Tata Sierra which was left hand drive and even had an external rollcage all over the body.

"LEFT Hand Tata Sierra"

The surprise in this thread is more like the surprise about a kid born abroad but of Indian parents.

The kid will still have less immunity to a mosquito bite and the Sierra will still have a steering on the Left Hand Side.

Gentlemen,

About 8 years ago, I installed (myself) an audio system in a white LHD Tata Sierra.
The Sierra itself was better built, with marginally better interiors that the Sierra itself. It was called Tata Sport, not Sierra. It also had Ski Rails on the roof that made it look smart and many other things, like a lighter socket in the rear and heaters etc.

I was told by the owner that Tata had made a large quantity of these for the Market in Spain. He had used influence to get one of these, as then, the Sierra Turbo was not available and this one had the Turbo Engine.

The photographer/organization he works for need not be Spanish - typically Dutch vacation to Spain twice a year for the warmth. He could have taken it then. Only Spanish servers need not have access to teh Sierra pic.

Damn, what am I saying ? I honestly dont know. Must be due to the Chanablis effect.

Is this similar to the Tata Gurkha. I remember seeing one in the World Car magazine once. It had better finish than what we got in India.

Does that mean we dont get the top quality products..

I have heard even the Indicas,Safaris,Scorpios, etc. that were exported were better than the ones we use in India..
