I dont know where you read what..? but Im sure you didnt read the whole thing.

on high compression, very hi revving stressed out engines running hi octane gas may show the benefits of such mods ..when you are going to operate above factory/stock engine RPM range and need a more powerful aftermarket ignition system to give you the power at higer ranges not possible with stock factory ignition system. It is at this stage when you need the wires to keep up with your extra powerful ignition system...

dude cmon, dont go "riceboy" on me now we are talking of a bone stock civic engine adapted to run on indian pump gas 84/87 octane...dont expect any noticeable gain...
with just a free flow, filter and plugs on a stock civic the regular plugs are good enough..

for example ..similarly applying your logic ..One could say large injectors are a performance mod, agreed...but in what context ? but they make sense in case of a crazily modded engine ..e.g when you have maxed out your IDC above 80% approx , then in this case this mod will help.
so it is ok to say it is a performance mod but in what context ?

performance mods/addons make sense at different levels of tune, you cant just put wires and plugs on a factory spec honda civic and say its a performance mod.. if you think so then think of RICE!!

Nitrox,
The article given by you is very interesting and informative..
But the problem is that the 7-8 whp increase in power is aprrox about 12 bhp at crank and also these are figure for high compression 11:1 engines which are US spec..
The indian version civics have compression ratios reduced to approx 9:1 so the actual gain from just headers and FF exhaust is not gonna be more than 4-5 bhp at crank unless the chip is remapped, porting and polishing done with high lift cams and the works...

Hi Akshay,

Assuming he would be using the best brands available in India would work out to Rs30k+. Manson has some good cheap sources so if interested you can contact him.

As regards the gains dont expect anything more than a 10-12% gain on the higher side.

Hi Nitroxx,

For someone who is from the same trade and a expert at tuning in Mumbai I dont think you should be asking these questions since you already know the answers. As regards the break up I dont discuss work on the forum.

Hasnt done till now atleast.

Anyways. Yesterday morning, installed a few parts from the previous zen(sold now)
Fuel energizer and an intake charger. Torque has improved in the midrange.
It's auto transmission and certain stretches were wheels didnt spin earlier on sudden throttle openings are spinning little bit now.

Exhaust End Can changed now for a more muscular(but not loud) sound.

Bhushan - another problem is that the R18 engine which is in the Indian Civic has its headers integrated in such a way that there is no way to put on aftermarket headers. (Remember the conversation yesterday with Jitu!!)

yeah ishan the headers are built into the cylinder heaD and blah blah..honda really scr*wd up the tuning scene with this engine infact even the cold air intake doesnt give you any gains I've got a friend on 8thcivic.com who showed a 1 hp increase from an K&N apollo filter on the dyno.Infact the best one on the market for the r18 IS THE Injen Cold air intake system.heres a thread on the DIY for installation if ones getting it.
DIY: Injen CAI install on R18 (lots of pics) - 8th Generation Honda Civic Forum
while youre at it check this lady driven 7 sec honda civic..yes I said 7 secs.
