I talked to the driver of this vehicle..

He said that this is an old export model of the Sumo. So, there is a big controversy, whether this is really a modification or an original factory vehicle.

He wasn't clear whether it was really some sort of a pick-up or modded into one.

By the way, as per him this Sumo belongs to a Tata dealer, so what the driver said might be true... Any idea folks?

He also said that the Sumo had suffered a crash once. During that time, they fitted an AC and fitted a soft cover on the open area. If you observe carefully, the open bay has proper roll bars like SUTs. The vehicle was in a pretty bad shape though.

Modded. Looks too beat-up to be new. If it were new / export model, there would have been some mention about the model somewhere.

I don't think this is an official Tata product. Seems like someone has chopped of a standard Sumo to suit his needs.

No, this is not the Spacio ST. Spacio ST doesn't have doors at all. It is a Sumo, here's a pic from the front.

Yeah, even I felt that initially after looking at the poor condition of the vehicle, the rear section had roll-bars which is sported by high-end SUTs.
He said that the tailgate is not the original but a chopped Sumo's tailgate fitted after the repair from the crash.
