Yeah, it was prepared by Adi Irani, or so Niaz claims. Let's have a pic of the roof, and we'll know who really made it.

Drifting in the 60's

This is me drifting my 1958 milliecento... and the next pic is of Bunny Jabbar and me with our rides.. his the Padmini... WMB3272...and me with my sawn of shot gun Millicento... both cars ran sawn off exhausts, and with these we terrorised the streets of Calcutta in the 70's... when street racing was possible, and drag racing took place at "Red road" every Saturday night, as soon as the Swimming club disco finished (midnight) ... my car has Slicks (ahem! bald tyres)

and did i read somewhere on this thread ...someone claiming to be the most succesful driver out of Calcutta...mmmmmmmmm.. inmteresting if you look carefully you will see a angry "Snoopy" painted on my right rear door, snoopy pinning the pedal to the metal looking at a tach.. the right front seat belt is wound around the door pillar, as the doors had been smashed against a lampost .. "Lost it" ..the two left doors were welded shut.. so when we went to the disco and the hot chicks came close to me.. i would whisper in their ears... wanna go for a ride in a 2 door italian sports job..... let me tell you it worked every time

Hey cool monochrome pictures Man!

Where was the first picture of the 1958 Millecento: WBG 2415 taken? The "drift" one.

And can you put a rough date on when the picture was taken?
What is that tall modern building in the background?
And the older one in the background with the two terrace cupolas?

Where and What do Bunny Jabbar and you do today?

The last question, you can answer by PM

Cheers...

wow hell Kull! welcome to team-bhp. nice pics. Mr Niaz Ali is also @ Australia. know him by any chance? the second pic's address says something about Niaz's album.

@ram - the tall building is Chatterjee International (one of the tallest in Cal) and the LIC building can be seen in the back ground (with two domes)

Red Road is indeed a street racers paradise...still now! Red Road used to be the testing track for the rally drivers from Calcutta (back in those days).

even i used have baldy rear tyres (cross plys) and enjoyed the corners and U-turns.

PS: @ hell kull - post number #90 - Arindam ghosh.....one one the most successful....check out the link provided there! its not my comment by the way.

Hell Kuul, those pics look nice. Did Mr. Bunny Jabbar own a Padmini or is it a Fiat 1100 D? I ask because the indicator on the fender of Mr. Bunny's car looks like the one I saw on the 1100 D. I am not very sure though . Do you still own this car or know where it is right now?

Welcome to Team BHP Hell Kuul, or should we call you Niaz? Its too much of a coincidence isn't it?

By the way, how about some "later" pics of 2415????? Does Punjab Garage ring a bell, Titu, where is he these days ........I better get off before someone pounces and says "OT"!!!!!

Oh, by the way, I'm from Cal too, a 60s product as well. Red Road......and of course the pathetic "legal" circuit at Barrackpur.

By the way, P_R, Arindam Ghosh was more a rally specialist in those days, have never seen him demonstrate any racing techniques or skills?

Later pics of Wbg2415 eh...... well here is one

At its best it had a Piper 3/4 race cam, 1198cc engine, two twin choke Weber IDA'S (down draught).. a straight cut close ratio gearbox.. which was really loud... the only thing louder was the three into two into one extractors.. with a free flow exaust systemmm... all this was of course nicked from the group 2 car.... the grill is from Tittos morris minor... the one piece bumper is from a mark four ambi... only one piece used... the lights are spotties ...no low beam .. ***.. who gave a S@#t in those days... if you look carefully you will see little ribs on the top of the mud guards... i got that idea from the opel ascona400... there is a roof spoiler... wooohoo.... check out the wheel spats... 2 1/2 inch spacers on each wheel.. the bonnet is actually the original from the Spirit of Calcutta car.. just shortened the scoop, as rain would get in... The hub caps... well i actually made them out of metal, and then welded little nuts onto the rim.. and bolted it all down.. this is long before those plastic hubcaps appeared... and mags were something only the rich and famous had.. my car is shod with JK steel belted radials...awesome and fat in those days, you can just see the rear bumper , and it is the other piece of the front bumper...really slim.. now take a close look at the small orange side lights mounted inside the hedlamp well... at night i would turn the lights off and only put the orange lights on... they would light up the whole headlamp well .. it looked scary comming down the road...the rear view mirror, had a sticker on it "Once behind its ...not important" gumball rally...

I really thought i would sneak into this forum and just tease the life out of everyone .. but dammm how come so many of you guys know me?.... thats why i came in as hellkuul... blown my cover.. i guess i dont need to say anything .. just enjoy the pics... i have a few more ill dig them up soon... Bunny Jabbar....at one stage he drove a 911 in cal.. and try as i did , just couldnt beat a 911

Rudra: Truly an interesting pic from a dear old Calcutta!

A hot and dusty road where today stands the Park Street flyover.
Oh Calcutta... !

It is taken from the Red Road, looking Eastward (70 degree heading)

Six years ago, my office was in Camac St. 1½ km south of Red Rd. (a 3 km drive away).
