The shockers were BRAND NEW, not re-built. I meant when the car was totally re-built. Sorry, what I wrote conveyed the wrong impression

Cheers

Reality BITES

Got the car serviced today as it felt like it was being choked.

A few things I discovered. The head is shaved BUT no porting & polish seems to have been done . Shockers were fake..Everything has been corrected now & the car runs better than it ever did in it's 5000 kms life. The difference is NIGHT & DAY.

It saddens me no end. But the bright side is that I have finally got it sorted, may go in for a cam and ECU on the very same engine.

Sorry to realize what I did.

WATCH OUT !!

Ricky, the car is up for sale? So after the service today are you still planning on selling it?

Just curious. I already have one. lol. I'm in 2 minds whether to keep or sell. Mind says sell but heart does not allow me to let go after 9 years.

No problems as such but regular service is a bit high requiring preventive replacement of some part or the other.

If you have read the thread - the MIVEC engine that came had broken & damaged parts, hence the decision to not put it in

@ JayD

The DOHC & ECU seem like an interesting option. Will venture that route if I am not able to sell the Lancer.

Cheers

I've been following this thread since the beginning! Just too lazy to type.
I thought you were trying to source another engine after that unfortunate incident...

Anyways it's good you're happy with the difference in performance, the ecu will really change things!

The OE Lancer engine was made for the Indian FE fixation, hence cannot really be a race car . I would like to know frrom people who have changed ECU's or remapped them on a Lancer to know if it worth the 30K. Zakie or Viper would be my best bet - I guess !!

Cheers
