Lol Bro!
Hmmm.. I wonder who would lock it in 1st/2nd gear
That brings one more question to my mind.
Can the gear lock be used in Neutral ?
In that case, revving the engine
and look like a monkey is the only option
left!
No but seriously can it be done ?
Anyone ??

I am using a pin type gear lock. It cannot be locked in neutral. The pin is inserted to neutral position. I lock in reverse or fifth gear.

Hurray...Installed U-type Gearlock in my WagonR!!!

Hi all,

For all those who want to fit Gearlock in their cars, a cheap and quality one, here's a good news.

I recently installed Minda Gear Lock for my WagonR. As Xenos was charging a hefty 2750/- for product and fitment. I saw Minda gearlock at Maruti showroom but it was for Alto only(Pin Type). As i had WagonR only U-type would fit. Therefore i searched the net for sometime and found their website. Here it is...Welcome to Minda Corporation Ltd.:Electronic & Mechanical Security Systems,Immobilizers,Window Regulator Electronic Body Controllers For Automotive Industries

and their address is,
MINDA VALEO SECURITY SYSTEMS (P) LTD,
D 9 - 10, Sector - 59
Noida - 201301 [UP] India
Fax : +91-120-2580285
Mob : +91-98711-91940

I sent a DD in favour of, MINDA VALEO SECURITY SYSTEMS (P) LTD. payable at NEW DELHI for Rs. 900/-. After around 2 weeks i got a courier fully packed with the gearlock with warranty of 3 years delivered to my home.

Then i called their service personnel at Bangalore, near JC Road, his name is Narsuram, he can be reached at 9886477605. The service personnel came to my home and fitted it and charged Rs.200/-.

So, total work done for Rs.1100/-. If anyone want more details you can contact them directly through email at :
manohar.lal at mindavaleo.com or cc at minda.co.in

Regards,
Ramki.

I got gear-lock fitted in my NHC at the Honda service center. Its U-type -I know its ugly black thing hanging, but it gives peace of mind where ever parked. It can only be locked in neutral. It cost me around 3K and the reason for high cost that the whole set is imported from Japan.
PS: I will get the exact cost & will post the pictures.

If you have a 4x4 M&M Scorpio then the only way the gear can be locked is in neutral...

If you call Xenos/Pricol directly and ask them to come to your house and install the gear lock, they will charge you MRP+Installation charges, which might come to this high a figure.

Go to after market car acc dealers. They accept payment and sell you the gearlock. After 2-3 days, a company engineer comes and installs it. You get sufficient discount through this way (around 1-1.2k easily)

I had a U-type gear lock in my OHC. I remember it could be locked in Neutral position. But that was around 4 years back. What I infer from the posts here is that this is no longer possible, as newer models of gear lock only allow for locking in reverse or 5th gear. That makes sense!

I would prefer locking in reverse since I park with face upfront with the back towards a wall or an obstacle, it will be next to impossible to keep on pushing forward by depressing the clutch. But if locked in 5th, still a possibility to drive away.

Hi Arun,
As said above, the website doesn't display the gearlock but you can send an email to the above mentioned email address and then see the reply.

You can send an acknowledgment post to the address in my previous post and wait for 2 - 3 weeks and it will be delivered to your house directly.

If you need any more help PM me.

Ramki.

I had enquired about the Xenos Gear Lock for my Accent about a month ago.
The Pin-type which works with Accent was available for Rs.900 with B&W

Wow thats too cheap man! I guess Xenos must be having the same pin type model for Accent as well as Getz. I wonder why then the same model for Getz costs double?
