Sorry guys, it was a typo. Dynamat not dynamate.. :(

@ Elf - Your best solution to re-route the KnN to the rear bumper so intake noise wont be much or better still hire theFag as your driver and sit in the rear couch, you wont hear much

Et tu, Busae?
Then Fall Elf???

I meant most diesels have some covering inside the hood in black colour to prevent noise from reaching out, my Optra too has it though its not a diesel, its for sound deadning.

why dont you flick Sam's and put in your huge cylindrical/conical one in his car

How about trying a bigger filter?

Why I'm suggesting it cos two Delhi members aZa and Faithless run huge and normal size air filters in their Xings. While faithless's car growls across all the rev range, aZa'a car starts growling only at higher revs.

Which leads me to belive that the growl is related to the X amount of the air being sucked per Y area of the filter. And if the filter is bigger the X/Y is lesser. Hence less noise.

Any experts take on this?

Dude Fuelled! You haven't seen the size of the cylinder I've got.

It's a 4.5" dia & is at least 12" long. It's so long & thick it needs to be oiled before it's inserted, to ensure a good grunt & maximum bang for the buck. Makes the recipient noisy as hell, which is a darned pain sometimes when you wish for quiet companionship instead of a wild, grunty, growly, drooling, chest-thumping, screaming ride.

Bigger isn't always better. As all have seen with my shortened shifter.

Elf this is something that i noticed last drive in Ford Rocam's car to Pune. Gr8 sound for an adrelaine rush but to live with ikt on a daily basis is hell. Go back to the stock option for regular usage, that's the only option you have.

Wasnt any pic of it in the garage. So didnt know how big ur cylinder was.

So either insulate the firewall and the bonnet inside, or go back to the stock box with a replacement filter.

Finally think of stuffing ur ears with some nice earplugs(not music ones, just plugs.. like swimming plugs). I've seen some nice ones out there meant for reducing ambient noise delivered to ears.

I can't stuff my ears with sound deadeners! I use my bluetooth headset whilst driving, & I make & receive most of my calls then.

Yes, I know I'm not supposed to.

So why do you need three ears?

And where will you place the ear that I send you?
1. Behind your left ear?
2. In front of your left ear?
3. Behind your right ear?
4. In front of your right ear?
5. On your forehead?

I need to know because I'm a bit concerned where people place the ears that I send them.

I had a bad experience the last time with one Dr. H. Lecter.

Oye Elfy,

Just returned from Goa last night and saw this thread. Have a solution for you get the car over and we shall solve it for you. Will not eliminate the sound completely but will definitely reduce it by approx 50%.

speedweed baba, I'm now an old man & just want silence & power, as I've explained elsewhere on this thread.

Looks of jealousy be damnned. For me these days, Om Shanti Om's where it's at.

And all you ICEr boys, that's Om. Not Ohm.
