Re: My Remapped Toyota Innova Crysta 2.8L | 216 BHP & 514 Nm

Wow, that's a phenomenal and a brave move. I'm glad you went the whole route, in terms of suspension, brakes and remap. Wish you many happy and safe miles ahead

Re: My Remapped Toyota Innova Crysta 2.8L | 216 BHP & 514 Nm

I was searching aftermarket suspension for crysta.
Reasons
- Bouncy when on undulated roads.
- No confidence to take on corners.

Note : If driven in relaxed mode and under 100 kmph there was not much issue.

Many warned me not to touch Innova's suspension as we will lose the comforts it provides. I was skeptical about the suspension mods for some time but later decided to take the plunge as if there is no confidence while driving the car fast, What is the point of having a quick car ?

Options
- Bilstein B6 (75k)
- Eibach lowering springs (35k)
- Ironman Nitrogas Dampers (68k)
- Race Concepts fully adjustable comforts coil overs (95k).
- Tein lowering springs.

One of my friend vedant had installed Teins springs in his XUV500 and gave a review that handling is too good but its got a bone jarring ride. Tein and Eibach were out of the list. I was confident about the Bilstein B6 as it was installed in my polo previously.
But Jayant told to try out Ironman Nitrogas Dampers for 3 reasons
- Rebuild kits were available for the same.
- He can give full support for the product.
- 60k kms or 3 years warranty.
- Reasonably priced.

Note - Crystas stock springs were retained to not miss out on the comforts.

Surprised to see a monroe suspension in stock car.

Initial impressions.
- No Bouncing effects in undulated roads.
- Usually we test the handling of the car in NICE road clover leaf flyover as its got tight curve. It was able to handle quite well.
- Mature behaviour in flyover median gap..
- What i like about this is, It's not too stiff nor too soft. It handles well without compromising on comforts.
- No changes in Ground Clearance.

Overall satisfied with the product on what they had promised.
  • Driving Comfort
  • Handling
  • Stability

Installed at 6th mile customs, Indira Nagar, Bangalore.

It's a great, under appreciated machine. It has great handling for a 1.9 ton suv. Tons of grip and yes the power.

Only drawback of the x3 is the ride is super stiff with run flats. Even with the dampers in normal mode it's very harsh even on small bumps.

My e60 rides better. I kid you not. It has Sachs dampers and normal tires.

The x3 runs 245/50 r 18 and I'm just waiting for the tires to run their course before I shift to normal tires.

Loving the work going in and following the thread closely.

All the best

Well, BMW does not seem to be offering six cylinder diesel in X3 anymore :-(

Only xdrive20d or 30i is available. German luxury car makers seem to have stopped six cylinder diesel in this class unless one moves to Q7/GLE/X5.

Oh wow, again brraj.

We generally hear Crysta owners looking for mods on ICE, Alloys and some minor look enhancing mods (grille for example). You’ve pushed the envelope to remaps and suspension and brakes. The passion is very visible and evident.

Quick check - any feedback from fellow passengers on second/third row post this mods?

Re: My Remapped Toyota Innova Crysta 2.8L | 216 BHP & 514 Nm

I joined this forum only a few months back and i am already so glad to see posts like these (and also on DIY on audio etc). These are so useful and inspiring in terms of customizations possible and DIY projects for the car enthusiasts out there. I talked to Jayant already and I think I will go ahead with remap in my 2.0 TFSI Q5 to 260HP/400Nm.

This is turning into an amazing build, and something you don't expect to see on an Innova, which makes it that much more interesting an exciting! Do you have any more mods planned? Maybe something cosmetic like de-chroming or de-badging - subtle changes but makes the car look cleaner in my opinion!

They told its comfortable in the rear seats, But as a driver I can feel the difference.
I may meet sankar this month to check his Bilstein b6 with eibach springs combo. If its too good and comfortable will go for it.

Replaced the central grill from this

to this to get the sportier EVO looks. This is taken from Crysta sports version.

Re: My Remapped Toyota Innova Crysta 2.8L | 216 BHP & 514 Nm

Was trying out the stock jack to lift crysta and found out that we need to atleast turn some 50 times to lift it up and repeat to bring it down.

Replaced stock jack with 5 ton bottle hydraulic jack.
With just 10-15 clicks crysta is up and ready for tyre change. Just turn the screw to bring it down in a jiffy.

Though it cant fit inside the stock jack space it can be kept aside like this.

Note - Keep a thick cotton cloth below the jack and include the jack aswell with the toolkit holder to cancel any noise from jacks play.

Cost 1k

Hi,
That is an excellent addition to have. If you have bought it online kindly share the link.

I am always perplexed about using the jack in my Fortuner as it’s lifted 2” from stock.

Brraj and "stock" never go along!! Kudos for keeping the tradition up, now for some meet up for old times sakes. I see you got your tyres changed from that JP nagar place, do you live nearby?

The last time we met, it was the drive up the hill in your mad elantra with rahul shotgun!

Cheers
