Need Advice on buying Shocks from Singapore

About current state of my car (Bangalore)
- At present Iam in Melbourne, Australia on Work, and will be returning sometime either 22nd June or few weeks later. Back in Bangalore as some of you might know I own a OHC Vtec 2001 which now needs a suspension replaced. I have had RAC, Bangalore look up at that suspension/struts whatever they call it as.
The problem seems to be that the front suspension have become real stiffer and needs to be replaced
What should I be looking for
- I would be travelling Via Singapore and its my first time there. My inquiry is regarding everything like
  • Getting transit visa (have transit time from 7am till 5 pm),
  • What kind of suspension to look for my OHC
  • Where do I find it
  • Is it worthwhile to buy from there
  • What about customs, how much to pay
Is it worthwhile shopping in Singapore / Bangalore
- RAC in bangalore says they have suspension of 2 versions, 6K and 12K ones, so does it sound alright to do in bangalore or get something from singapore

Anybody to help in singapore
- Is anybody there in singapore to help me out in shopping for the parts, I might endup buying some other car parts dont what all .. pls advice

Thats the quest guys... looking forward to your help

One big question is Whats the difference between Struts & shocks & Suspension

Another is Can the existing thing be repaired, I seen a post where Psycho from bangalore helped with getting the Suspension modified. I would appreciate anything like that..

Thank you beautiful people

its going to be a waste of time to hunt and buy any parts for the Honda city in Singapore!!
you will get what u want here in india, and at prices lower than what it'd cost u getting from there after all the duties etc.
we have very efficient Importers for fast moving items specially for cars like the honda city!!
bangalore and Delhi are the places.

For something that big and bulky, you may face custom issues, and in the end your saving may not be much.

You will not get direct out of the box parts for the OHC for the suspension and yes you have only 2 options:

1) Get a company replacement
2) Modify your existing set

You will need to see what kiind of usage you are looking for the car and choose acccordingly.

on the other hand, I wanted to know if my change in rubber has caused the stiffening of the shocks, I had upgraded from the old 175/70R14 Bridgestone to
new 195/60R14 Ducaro GA...

Guys, does that make any sense .. if changing rubber size affects the suspension or what?? I am very rare on my car usage ... Other thing is I already spent very recently on new tie-rods, Righthand driveshaft ..

Well still cant guess why the shocks get stiffer and what kind of preventive care can help averting that..

If you are not in a hurry & if you can wait for couple of months, i am coming out with a alternative solution for suspension setup on ohc, which will raise the ride & handling characteristics of OHC.

Hey Jitu,

What exactly do you mean by alternative solution. Are you talking about modifying existing setup or changing parts sourced locally or abroad. I am also very much interested as I am unable to find height adjustable coil overs suitable for our OHC.

Yes I wanted to know what did you mean by alternative setup? Iam interested in knowing that. Have you tried it? Conceptually what is that?
