Personally, i feel that a car as antique as the amby should have been just that instead of pretending to be a modern car with those ancient looks. The alloys & tyres are fine, but the spoiler, number plate border etc are totally not wanted.

In public interest Amby should be banned. They pollute - both environmental pollution as well as visual pollution. And they are extremely unsafe. Things as simple as the wiper does not work, even in a brand new vehicle.
I know I might evoke a lot of hate mail for this from other members in the forum and perhaps I am not being faithful to my city. But how can a nation allow such a vehicle on its roads for such a long time.
In the early nineties C.K. Birla used to tell media, "we were not allowed to modernise our designs due to years of government restrictions." Now God knows what his explanations are, I mean after so many years of liberalisation.
He was also one of the first to sell off his factory to GM, and the first to set up a collaboration with the Japs for Mitsubishi, but did virtually nothing for the Amby in terms of modernisation.
Amby with alloy wheels and spoiler is like a 90 year old lady wearing lipstick and false eye lash etc. Vulgar actually.

Eeesh - as Utpal Dutt of Golmaal (the original) would say. Is nothing sacred anymore?
Putting a spoiler on this car is insulting to memory of venerated grandfather !
"when is a new Amby coming?is there any plan for a new one?" - a new amby - now that is an oxymoron if there ever could be one.

Don't thnk a new Amby will come. Last I heard, there was some strike going on at HM's Uttarpara factory. For a company already on its last legs, this could be the last straw. HM looks well and truly doomed to me.

I, for one, would LOVE to see a new Amby, with modern panels (a la the new London Taxi), lower CG stiffer, better tracking rear suspension, Double Wishbone coil sprung front suspension with antiroll bars.

But all this will need substantial investment and you cant expect a company like Hindustan Motors to do that.

I just hope that the HM plant closes down completely and Tata takes the opportunity of a vacated market segment and gives us a modern Ambassador.

Engine? They already have that part running perfect. But is Force Travellers engine available in the market?

NO!!

What the? are they trying to turn an AMBI into a sports car??
Getting a spoiler on Ambi..that looks as if its lifted from an Accent..

I think they should style her into a new avtaar..

If I get a chance I would like to turn her into a Hot rod..

The spoiler is a total mismatch on this vehicle. Dont they pay any heed to asthetics?

Amby

The tyres are bit outside the vehicle.I think it will hit the upper part of the curve on top of the tyres when it goes by bump suddenly.

But The Vehicle is good in look.Alloys, tyres,Painting etc.is great.

Re: A Modified Amby or the New LE Amby ???

Ugh, what a horrible spoiler. The wheels look pretty good too. I have an avigo, and the stock mag rims are pretty good, though think I'll eventually change over to something on these lines. Right now though I'm scavenging old markets looking for Avigo taillamps....story of owning a one-off model
