Great detailing on the cleaning aspects of the K&N filters from Rishi, thanks mate. Never knew it can turn back to the original pink red colour . Will have to do the cleaning quickly as mine is jet black.
How much does a new cone filter cost. Just incase i plan to replace the filter alone..

What is the recommended cleaning frequency for the K&N performance filter. Is there any standard that is fixed or you just clean it when the clogging starts on the filter. advice..

What about the solution/oil which you need to apply after the wash?

btw last 2 weeks have been trying to get the kit but no luck... guess i need to pick it up from Methods.

Getting cleaned from Ozone is that one needs to spend about couple of hours there..

According to K&N's website the filter should be cleaned when you can no longer see the pink color of the filter.I think that should be a good benchmark for you to get the filter cleaned.

It certainly is cheaper on ebay, about $10. but its the postage that is making it expensive.

I will source it through a friend or pick one myself up during my next visit.

thanks for the pricing.

cheers

hey buddy, you can refer to post 20 of this thread as to what the K&N should look after cleaning.
As lohithrao says your K&N really needs a good clean up job :-)
BTW thats a nice looking intake pipe.

Cleaning done, when i washed with water i could see loads of black dirt....

Before installing the filter back did try to see if there was any dust inside the intake pipe and shocking i could feel very fine particles of dust inside the pipe...have anyone experienced the same?

Now the que is K7N filtering properly?

I have the "Apollo"

btw any performance diffrence between "apollo" & "universal" variants?

Hi, I use a K&N replacement and I check the filter/intake pipe every 10 days. I dont see any dirt. Just very minute blackish residue in the throttle body.

I hope there are no small leaks in your pipe/filter.

I have read on this forum and elsewhere were people have found some dirt past the K&N filter.

Air Box modifications are always risky.

Cheers
