NOS means Nitrous Oxide System, this is used in 1/4th mile drag races.
NOS is stored in a cylinder and when a button is pressed it will be sprayed in the engine which will help the fuel burn faster.
This is what i know about NOS...

pretty right SAM abt the central locking & reverse horn relation. It was exactly that I was referring to. Somehow, reading the entire thread gave me an impression "what u dont like".... "reverse horns"....

I'm not removing my rubber bumper strips, even though I now realise they are mostly useless! There would be far too much cleaning up of glue to be done...

If I had a car with a spoiler (which I would never...) it would prompt me to question --- does it actually do any good? And I might well come to the forum to question that!

I probably wouldn't remove it, even if I was talked out of it --- too many screw holes etc --- maybe just not have one on the next car.

Reversing alarms... are actually a good idea spoilt by the way it is used --- Anyone else lived near a travels firm? All that noise in the night, nobody there to warn, so why not turn off the damn thing. What is so annoying, anywhere, any place, is the stupid, stupid music!

But reversing alarms don't kill anybody (except by sleep deprivation perhaps!). Something that I think got only one mention, and that the rest of the world is realising, long ago, is lethal to pedestrians is Bull Bars. So lets discourage these becoming fashionable in India!

They are not too good for the car occupants, either, as they prevent the crumple zones from doing their job.

here is my list of most irritating car accessories in random order:

>reverse gear music.
>brake music (only seen them in bikes).
>stupid ball on the steering wheel.
>local car perfumes that smell like agarbathis.
>low quality plastic chrome door handles and bull bars especially seen on suvs like scorpios.
>stupid looking wheel caps.
>weird interior jobs like the earlier mentioned tiger stuff.

thats all i can think of for now.

Reversing horns!!! Gawd ppl have such hideous stuff taped on them!!

Stickers-tattoos-or whatever they are called(according to me, the term 'spoiler' should be used for them as thats just what the do to the car!!!)

Those silly blue LED's that people here seem to keep everywhere-from bonnets to wiper arms!!

Silly wheelcaps with even sillier SPINNERS!!!! espesially in RED!!! lol!!
(and on an 800.. it looks hilarious!!)

'Bumper Guards' on innovas!!!(not the rubber thing but an actual rod lik the nes u find on the rear of trucks!!)

'TIGER SKIN' on the dashboard(thankfully... i think it has gone out of fashion!!!)

@ thad, the bumper guard that im talking about is for the rear bumper!!! it sticks out like a flat rod!(the ones that trucks are supposed to hav-so that cars dont go under them, but on a smaller scale!!!)

you are absolutely right, thad. these are very very dangerous to pedestrians & other vehicles too. Actually, it is illegal to fit those in your vehicle without the RTO approval.

JayD... I haven't noticed those, but perhaps if I drove a vehicle that was small enough to be in danger of driving under the car in front, I might be glad of them

Certainly sounds to me like something that would ruin the aerodynamics.

Maybe a spoiler would be needed to compensate!!!!

me neither ... just in case their car gets stolen maybe that helps them identify it?
I wonder why they don't have their entire family tree on, just to ensure that it removes any ambiguity??

Auto accessories and its standard vary from country to country and city to city and person to person (based on his income). People are not that crazy about accessories and display things on the vehicles except asian countries. Talking about any indian city, an auto driver too wants to display something in his space after seeing a lot of things hanged, pasted, fitted and drilled on all other vehicles around him. The only thing he would be able to afford is few reflectors, stickers, LEDs, extra horns etc. So each one has a satisfaction of showing off something on the road which might sound rediculous to many others. Thats the way it is !!

Here are my list of things which I would hate to see in vehicles:

01. Reverse music
02. Plastic flowers anywhere in the car
03. Hanging monkeys or dolls from the mirror
04. Plastic covers not removed from the seats
05. Adv stickers all around the glass and outside the body panels
06. Mirror reflection on sun films
07. Bulging out wheels/rubber from small cars
08. Reflectors/ LEDs/ Chrome on door handles, body parts, number plates
09. Cloth curtains inside
10. Loud horns
11. Names of family members on glass
12. Artificial spoilers on small vehicles
13. Parts taken and fitted from other vehicle brands
14. Multi colour body painting
15. Top brand stickers on low profile vehicles

And the list might go on forever. But these are easily noticed stuff which majority would dislike to have. To summarise; I am shaju and I would want to remain as shaju regardless of wherever I go and whomever I meet. I cant act or copy someone famous and get attention from others, which would inturn make me a laughing stock. Same thing applies to vehicles. If I own an auto rikshaw it should remain as a rikshaw, not trying to stick brands like Ferrari or BMW on it and spoil the naturality. Represent what you are in the crowd, cheap imitations do not last.
