dont you mean oversteer? RWDs with lots of torque oversteer in corners if one stomps the pedal. did happen quite a few times in our 138D.

it has synchromesh on all 4 gears IIRC. thats why changing gears was easier.

i am not much into tuning but i think the car needs to be tuned properly - i think its running rich - also check if the engine oil / radiator water has any "soapy" thingy - if yes - then i guess the head gasket needs to be changed - also get the brakes checked - see if any one of the brakes are fouling with the drums - you dont wanna put load on the engine.

i think it will be better if Mr. Dhabhar pin-points the problem.

my mechanic told that the pistons rings are gone and has to be replaced.and where can get new pistons for my car if i want to redo the engine.

i believe the BEST fit for padmini would be an esteem engine, parts are available in plenty and its easy to repair ( the carb one of course ).

guys, the post looked interesting and i wanted to know, it is possible to swap the padmini engine with a diesel one. Which ones would be possible?

If u MUST do it, then look for the 137D engine. I used to hear a lot about jaya diesel engines in padminis in the 90s. What happened to them??

I think there are lot of Toyota diesels engine that can be plonked into the Padmini.

Also, some time back, there was one here with a daihatsu engine in it.

Put a gypsy engine in the fiat with a gypsy gearbox. Convert it to Floor Shift. If you have an S1 even better. Less cutting to do.

isn't datsun1200 aka nissan sunny. wasn,t its engine used in premier 118ne? doesnt it hav the same gear box too, except this one has 5ht gear.

How about Diesel engines from
1) ICML Rhino 2.0
2) Premier Rio 1.5/1.3
3) Maruti Ertiga 1.3
4) Mahindra Quanto 1.5.
Suggestions please?
Any other modern Diesel engines??
