i am buying a 2002 lancer petrol for 2.75lacs
Pretty good, but how many kms has it done, which model & how is the condition. Its advisable to get it checked by a mechanic.

1. the engine power is 88ps and i am looking to get a 20-25ps increase.i am thinking of spending around 40k overall on the modifications.what all can be done within this budget.
1. Well to start with, get a CAI, ie. Cold Air Intake with filter. Filters are many KnN, Green, Ractive, Pipercross, HKS, etc. I would recommend Green and it will cost you around 7000 or so with a dynamisation kit.

For filter PM him - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/members/turboindia.html

2. FFE with Headers - Free Flow Exhaust with 4*2*1 headers - This will set you back by around 10000 or so. You can go to automech or speedworks.

3. Porting & Polishing with A multi-angle valve job will cost around 15k.

4. In the 8k left put them in a FD and buy a TC.

For more info on performance mods, check this thread out.

2. i heard of reprograming the car processor. how good is this and how much does it cost to get it done?
Well RD Dynamics have standalones, they cost 25k including everything harness, system and all. You can PM him here, http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/members/rdkarthik.html

You can get this done at Speedworks, though you will have to procure this stuff from the repective people.

Cheers

Hope this helps

2.75 is a good deal, one of my friends got a 2002 lancer for 3.00 but was an SFX model. so imo yours will be a good deal too. Just have a look at the history before buying it.

Also do keep us informed about the mods you do.
