Re: H19 LED Headlights Upgrade - The Extensive Guide

@tht'snotME if you are looking for rains only, then go for a warmer color. However its hard to find because people prefer the white light. For me the rain visibility is good. For heavy rainy season yet to test this year. However for drizzle this will work fine.

Re: H19 LED Headlights Upgrade - The Extensive Guide

Hi all, I've been a long time spectator of TeamBHP forum but this is the first reply I do as I share the same dilemma with H19 lights.

I have a Nissan magnite xv variant which has H19 halogen 55/60 bulb not sure if it's osram or other OEM brand. I went to aftermarket accesories shop in Chennai and liked the Hella 75w(Per unit) 4200K warm white LED which advertised as H4 has H19 compatibility, as the seller said most brands do provide the cut outs in mounting ring (h19) of H4 lights.

I tried it and was still dissatisfied with the output from my headlight. Now I'm searching for retrofit projector upgrade in the same headlight unit. Possibly as OP posted I'll enquire from Genome and Lightxpertz banglore for the same and update here soon.

However tampering original of a product is not to my liking. Have anyone found a reliable aftermarket LED thats brightest as per their opinion?

As these have 192w, 200w, even 300W printed on box but I highly doubt the output Lumens is accurate or potent. Hella unit looks promising but I have my doubts, can anyone shed light on this?

Main criteria is 4200-4300K LED since I hate white light that scatter on rain/fog conditions. 90 or 100/130 halogen destroys plastic headlights so it's a no go.

Re: H19 LED Headlights Upgrade - The Extensive Guide

I upgraded the headlight of my Ignis from stock 55/60W H4 halogen bulb to Osram H4 4200K WW LEDriving HL XLZ 3.0

I ordered it from Amazon. The seller was Autodrome.

A lot of people do not recommend using LED lights in a reflector setup since they cause glare even in low beam to incoming traffic. This is partially fasle. This is only true for poorly designed cheap chinese LEDs without proper cut off shade like the ones shown below.

In order to get a proper light pattern, LED lights should be installed in the right direction as well. Unfortunately, more than half of those who retrofit LEDs doesn't do it.

Osram LED close up photos.

Each unit has 4 LED chips, 2 on each sides.

The installation was straight forward plug and play. I didn't even have to cut the dust cap to accomodate the cooling fan.

Result

The output is close to stock headlight color.

High beam

Proper beam pattern in low beam which doesn't disturb oncoming traffic.

Overall, it came out better than expected. The light output is at least 50% more. I was sceptical about this upgrade due to a lot of negative posts about installing an LED light in a reflector setup. However, I am confident to report that the Osram LED is well engineered to work with a reflector setup and it emits the same pattern as a stock halogen bulb, at least in Ignis.

Re: H19 LED Headlights Upgrade - The Extensive Guide

Good and much needed upgrade. Been using Osram LEDs since 4 years. Have installed these in both headlight and projector foglamp in my cars and two wheelers.
The h4 bulbs* designed in such a way that they mimic the beam of halogen bulbs. Being an Osram, I'm pretty sure they can last 8-10 years easily.
I've installed 25w cool white H4 in activa, pulsar 150 and* Maruti 800 (sb308).* While my baleno has osram hb3 installed in Hella 60mm module fog lights with 50W warm white leds.

The 25W cool white is exactly like the factory LED setup of most cars. Neither less nor more. Driving with them feels like it was a factory setup as well.
The fogs in baleno are slightly brighter than OEM LED projector headlights but they do illuminate the front center of car which is a weak point of baleno's LED headlight which has been point of discussion for a long time. I can't imagine driving without these fog lights on highway anymore.

Have a happy & safe ride

Here's how osram 25W h4 work on my Maruti 800 1995 with OEM glass reflectors -

And here's how Osram 50W warm white hb3 leds look when fitted into hella 60mm projector module in baleno 2020 delta. The headlights are stock LED projectors

Another one-

I might switch to 50W warm white in Maruti 800 for OEM looks in near future

Re: H19 LED Headlights Upgrade - The Extensive Guide

Hey you should check out this, I recently purchased for my Polo.
https://amzn.in/d/bKdwpm5

These were replaced by my Osrams, same model which you have, these are 70W though, but the LEDs are designed such way it increases intensity at halogen filament center point and tapers outward like a diamond shaped.

I used to travel a lot of highways , so had to upgrade to a higher watts. This runs stable at 65watts, where Osrams would go down to 35w from 55w.

I was sceptical of this brand initially, but friend of mine has installed these on his Toyota Etios . Output was amazing
Attaching some reference images of the output.

These Flixton FLX75P are warm white ones. 4300k output

Let me know how it is compared to Osrams.

Hi sac23: Your Ignis light throw looks awesome. I own an Ignis Delta too. Wanted to upgrade the stock bulb to LED. I see you have mentioned it is just plug and play. But I just wanted to know if the mod you made can be done by any car mechanic or this requires technical know-how. I am asking this as I am noob when it comes to this. Thanks for your help in advance.

I have made a video on it with detailed instructions.
No technical knowledge is required for this mod. It is a simple DIY/retrofit job. You can always comment or message me if you need any help.

I ordered it from Amazon. The seller was Autodrome.
Could you please share a link for the same. I scoured Amazon and all I could find was LEDriving HL premium which looks somewhat different.

The listing is still the old LEDriving H4 LED. However, the seller 'Autodrome' is shipping the updated V3 LED. Make sure you choose the right seller. Because there are a few other new sellers who are selling it for a tad lesser, and their listing is shown by default in Amazon. I was able to get the light under 4K with current offers. The MRP is above 9K.

Osram Warm White H4 LED 50W

Osram Cool White H4 LED 50W

Is this good or bad and could you let is know the impact on battery. Also does this mean the light output reduces as it goes down to 35w

Which one did you get? Is warm white better in terms of glare than cool white?

I have driven my 10 year old Polo on this for almost 20k kms now, doesn't drain the batteries even in city conditions. The beam pattern is very good in these, even at rain conditions the light penetration is great.

After a long time i had found a brand who markets bulb ratings honesty, after testing some Aozoom, Aux beam, Osrams and Moco finally settled to Flixton flx75P warm white ones where it works as it says stable power output and good brightness.

Blaupunkt and Aozoom are notoriously drop watts after 10 to 15 mins of running the cooling is not effective in these bulbs.

They had also added a QR for warranty registration and activation where you get a email acknowledgement instantly, which I don't think any other brand does even the Osrams from Amazon, once I had a query about installing and their team reach out via WhatsApp and guided me well.

Amazon Link Flixton FLX75P here

Yes most of the bulbs are set to drop watts approximately when bulb reaches 80*C, this inturn reduces watts and lumens of light accordingly % drop.
