8L for a Laura? Thats amazing. In Bangalore the second hand market is between 15-17 depending on MT/AT, age etc. And a new AT is 19.8L OTR.

In fact I would go as far as saying that 8L for a Laura would be possible only if there has been a major issue like a crash [even then its unbelievable].

Guys who are already using the Pete's box for Laura -

Can you please share your experience?
Any issues with the box in short/long term?

Any side-effect on the engine?

And what happens to the warrantee?

warranty might or might not go depending on where you get it serviced. a remap would be better.

I recently bought the VAG-COM software thing from Ross-Tech: Home (costs less than 400 USD.) I thought I will wait for some time before I go for a remap, but this switchable remap looks promising - especially if they have a city-driving (bangalore!!!!) remap and a highway driving remap.

Btw, won't remap affect the brake performace and clutch wear rate?
Hi Andro,
How did your Ross Tech softare perform?
How/ where did you get it mapped on to your car?
Did you go in for a Remap later?

does this affect the fuel efficiency in any way? higher or lower?
what about the longevity of the engine? im guessing tht doesnt get affected since its a remap?

Re: skoda laura...remapping

I was trying to do some research on ECU remap for Skoda Laura 1.9 TDI ( PD Engine) thats when I stumbled upon this thread. Just wanted to know how it is from anyone who has done it already.

I am anyways getting a ECU remap done day after tomorrow so any inputs before would be really helpful

cheers

Re: skoda laura...remapping

Hi,

Wont the warranty get affected when a remap is done? When Skoda scans the vehicle and obtain the readings, I'm sure they would have certain standard values for the engine parameters. When a remap is done, would these engine parameters go off the standard scale, enabling the Skoda officials become aware a remap has been done?

Further to this, would this alter the VIN values, immobilizer codes and certain engine safety limits?

Technically they can, but in reality, they will only scan for fault codes, and in many cases do not even know how to tackle these!
