head lights

Are there any regulations on the height of the headlight in an Indian vehicle?
Pundits pl reply.

Travelling frequently at night I am tired of the glaring head lights of various vehicles in India.

We know that drivers do not dip their lights against oncoming vehicles.
But can manufaacturers lower the height?

Low head lights illuminate roads better which is what we should look for.But head lights are fixed so high that we wonder whether the objective is to illuminate the road ahead or to offend the driver of oncoming vehicle as much as possible.

Vehicle manufacturers also do not see the effect of placing the head lights high.

For example the mahindra van's lights van can be brought down by atleast another 750mm.

But Volvo's lights on both BR7 buses and FM/FL series trucks on India are low slung giving a pleasant feeling for the oncoming vehicles.

If there is no regulation on the height of head lights in vehicles manufactured/used in India it is time to introduce one.

Supposedly there are some regulations.
In the MVA it is said that
"The height of lamps shall not be higher than a the height mentioned in standard BIS:blah blah blah"
Now what that standard says? Well pay money and the govt will tell you.

Tanveer if one really wants to know what the prescribed standards are from the government then we can use the path of "Right to information". And I believe me its very effective these days. The required envelop for the same can be obtained from local post offices i suppose.
