Better option would be to get an aftermarket ecm or some performance enhancing ecm
He meant a Tunning Box like Petes

Well Toyota's Qualis engine is said to have a life of 5Lac KMS without requiring any work, so considering that i guess with just 250000kms on the Innova engine, there is more life left to it and the engine must be in quite a good shapre since diesels hardly see high revvs.

but it also depends on how the previous owner treated the car. since he wants to go for an engine swap i guess the engine isnt in good condition.

There is also a VGT turbo version of the same 2.5l which produces arund 130 kw for the same engine . May be you could just source the turbo and the ECM ,and this would be way cheaper than replacing the engine with a 3.0 litre engine .

Which Auto Engine can be fitted in the Innova and what other parts are required for the same?

Re: innova engine swap possible?

Sorry to resurrect this thread from the dead, but I felt that this thread was the best place to share this Toyota Innova 2JZ-GTE swap from Indonesia. Incredible.

Since a 2JZ can fit in there, it might be possible to fit shorter engines like V8s or V6s and retain the AWD front diff.

They managed to fit a 245/45/18 size tire under the stock body work (although it's not a current gen one, it is not a stretch to think that that size or wider will fit in the current Innova Sport). Perhaps with wider fenders, it might be possible to fit wider wheels.

Anyone feel like experimenting?

Innova does not have a front diff to retain it is a RWD.

My bad, I don't know why I thought Innova had an AWD variant. Regardless, with a shorter engine it could be possible to fit a front diff for an AWD swap and put down the power.

Re: innova engine swap possible?

Sweeet mod!

The IMV platform has a lot of space. The old Fortuner was sold with a 4.0 L 1 GR-FE which was a 6 cylinder V6. So fitting a straight 6 shouldn't be too much of a challenge.

I'm not sure whether you can make the Innova an AWD as the engine might be lower (remember the sloping bonnet?) and it might be difficult to have a solid axle or the diff + CV arms in the front.

With time and money anything is possible. 4x4 Innova has already been done Suspension designs of 4x4 and 4x2 vehicles in IMV platforms are a lot different. There is nothing interchangeable between them, but like I said with enough will, time and money everything is possible!!

I know. Will probably require a lot of custom hardware(half axles, driveshaft, subframes etc) and fabrication from the ground up. Probably makes sense to opt for the ATTESA system for a performance AWD setup. If you wanna go the automatic route, getting the 4wd system from a Chevy or Ford truck probably makes more sense.
