Painting my Jeep Green...

Folks,
Finally my Jeep is ready and we tried some colour combinations and some how didnt like any.

What I want to know is, Is GREEN prohibited as a colour for Jeeps? Or is it only Military Green that prohibited?

I see lot of Boleros in Light Green shade, can I paint my Jeep in this shade?

Anyone has any idea on the legal restrictions?

Cheers!
Ram

AFAIK, only military green (Olive green) colour is prohibited by the Motor Vehicles Act. Again, it is only prohibited to paint the vehicle Green and make it look like an Army vehicle. So I guess if you painted it green and you had a hardtop with a different colour, or other stickers , which would make it look like a civilian vehicle, it shouldnt be a problem.

hey man, appreciate your passion for the jeep. have been trying to get one done myself. i had in mind, as reference, the jeep used by arnold in the movie raw deal.

please do give us an indication of the costs incurred. that would really help me in my project.

I remember the army giving the BMC folks a tough time with the Olive green colour, but I still see quite a few olive green coloured jeeps around, and they all belong to civilians. So, not even sure if Olive green is prohibited. However the controversy is only about Olive green. All other shades of green are perfectly legal. M800 used to come in an olive green too, apart from other shades of green. Also Bolero comes in a light green shade with no problems whatsoever. So go ahead and paint it any shade other than olive green, and there should be no problem whatsoever.
