Thanks for the info. I will also place an order this weekend. Is this a universal mobile holder?

It could hold something with a 4-4.5" display I am guessing from the pics on the ebay link. Depends how creatively you could bend those legs and hold the device.

It is like those Gorillapods which could bend the legs and clamp itself anywhere to hold the cam.

Indeed, it does. It can easily hold most mobiles easily as you mention - my linkie was for a Note2 as well, i.e 5.5".

You can call the mumbai dealer if there are any doubts.

re: Cellphone Holder

No more worries of the phone getting hot with direct sunlight.
Looks really nice.
No wires strung across the steering wheel.
Snug fit.

Thanks a lot for the recommendation guys.
Goes perfect with the OBD reader enabled car.

Phamilyman, I found the spider incredibly interesting. Does it not rattle, because afterall it's gripping only the vents or other nooks and crevices of the dashboard. I want to buy it for sheer inventiveness of the idea!

On the other hand I am a happy user of http://www.bracketron.com/products/u...6#.UpRh8-LgxqA. My phone sits away from prying eyes is at a perfect height to accept (or reject) calls. Somebody bought it for me for about 10 or 12 US$. I was so pleased that I have ordered another for the other car. There is a down side: you will have to use one of the front cup holders. My car (like many) has two, so I did not mind.

Couldn't find it on ebay India site, but some of the other Bracketron products are listed at insane Rupee prices.

Can you post a pic with the phone attached? Also can this be fit horizontally?

Presently I am using this one, fixed on the windshield.

It's nice and small plus holds the phone well. The circular part can rotate 360 - i.e. phone can be fixed in landscape mode. Only problem is constant sunlight exposure!

Found a nice video that shows the many ways it can be used.

I don't think all of them are feasible but you get a good idea.
The problem with the windscreen mounts is the charger wire running all the way across the steering.

Thanks! The charger wire hasn't been so much of a problem for me as the sunlight. With OBD reader, Sygic and a background video recorder running - it gets really really hot! So looking for ways to cool down the phone including getting some dedicated device to offload some of the things!

This one looks nice, will give it a try - but then will have to get a dedicated dash cam.

PS: HDFC cards also have the 7% off thingy going on - try HDFCFC2013

re: Cellphone Holder

i've used a variety of phone holders for my car, but finally i found the perfect one (for me) - iOttie Easy One Touch Universal Car Mount Holder. i used to use my phone as a dash cam too, so sturdiness was one of the key factors in selecting this model (can't have wobbly videos, now can we ). also, the One Touch feature means i can mount and remove my phone from the holder fast and easy.

when i was using my iPhone as a dash cam, i had mounted the holder under the RVM, but now since i'm getting a dedicated dash cam, i've moved the holder under the driver side sun visor - away from the sun and doesn't block my view either.

the other day i was walking on Commercial street and saw the same iOttie inside an Innova!

I have the same iOttie as well. It works beautifully. Best part is the suction works on the dash surface.

OT: Which dashcam you got? Specs, model, link, price?

re: Cellphone Holder

I bought the iOttie Easy One Touch Car Mount.

The suction is really very strong. Sometimes, I feel it is going to rip my dash open. The twin 360 knobs give many options to mount in any where in the car.

But didn't quite like the plastic quality of the extendable arm. The knobs are fine though. And the arm mess with the power button on my Lumia 720. So, I keep the phone a bit offset.

Any idea if this will fit a 7" Galaxy Tab & be sturdy enough for light usage? No bad roads, potholes etc..

The legs may not be lengthy enough to clamp around a 7" device like it does for a phone.

Check out this snap posted by the eBay dealer on the link:

I guess it should just be able to. Try your luck.
