Its just the strut inserts.

Have the prices gone up or are these on the higher side?

Can something be rigged to stiffen my Zen's (2002) stock suspension? I have installed wide alloys which make the tyres portrude out so everytime i take a hard turn the sides start scraping due to the shocks being compressed. I have already raised the car by adding spacers into the shock absorbers so the bottom does not scrape any speed breakers even at full load (5 pax).

Mohit regarding the prices, you are right. For the baleno it costs about 28k for all 4.

Been doing the rounds just enquiring about options for Baleno suspension. Here is what I could gather.

Apart from Local Options I would list down what all options you have with international brands.

1. Koni struts with Stock Springs - This is probably the most VFM and popular option. The Koni sport struts are around 29K for a set of four. These are externally adjustable and have been found to produce excellent results on the baleno. Stock springs should be in good nick.

2. Koni struts with Aftermarket Springs - Apart from the struts are 29k, Eibach springs cost around 17k approx. These springs offer a drop of UPTO 40mm. So good for the track boys are guys who are lucky enough ride on highways.

3. Bilstein Coilovers - These would be approx 46k for a set of four. World class shocks but these are the starting for pricey stuff.

4. DMS suspension - Someone who have used them has to vouch for them

5. D2/Hotbits coilovers - Around 60k-75K approx with very good adjustability.

Viper can you compare these high end suspensions like Bilstein vs D2 vs DMS?

40mm is ok even for street use. The only part of the Baleno that is suspect is the bend before the end can on the exhaust, and I assume you're getting a custom exhaust soon. The stiffer spring and rebound rates will ensure you don't ground very easily.

Wow, that's a good price for Bilsteins. Any links to where you found it?

Simply the best! But then again, do you really want to blow 2.5 lakhs on suspension? They will outlast your car, and probably your next two cars, though.

Suspension overhaul at 80k INR? Unlikely, unless they replaced everything, plus balljoints, driveshafts, entire steering assembly etc. All these components are locally made, so I doubt the high bill. If you were to replace a PS pump, or an AC compressor, yes, those are about 30k each.

MASSs will think very very hard before inflating bills. Each MASS is required to have an updated list of all labour charges, and all parts carry an MRP. MIL is also swift to take action against any propagators of malpractice.

Balljoints,driveshafts are not locally made.
Breakup for the suspension is something like,
Strut -Rs2500 x 4 = 10k
Springs - Rs3500 x 4 = 14k EDIT:Rs3900 each
Lower arms - Rs6000 x 2 =12k
Ball joints - Rs600 x 2 = 1.2k
Trailing arm - Rs2000 x 2 = 4k

That alone is 30k,I dont know the prices of the other suspension components off hand. But it should come to about 40~45k.

OT: Since were talking about SGP and suspension, thought Id tell you guys that the GVs lower arms are 23k each!

Yes I know he is talking about his Baleno, this being the Baleno thread. They are NOW locally made and available, much cheaper than SGP. Also you get knuckles etc from manufacturers like Oriken, for about a third the price of SGP parts.
