Re: Stiffening my ride's suspension

Even the Sumo Gold has springs upfront, but sadly tata dint upgrade the ones on Safari.
Has anyone tried opening up the struts , adding more viscous oil into it and re-sealing it perfectly?
This will stiffen the ride a bit, but needs to be done by a professional who has a sealing machine.

Are you referring to the shock absorber? It doesn't have struts at front.
It has torsion bars up front.

IIRC, the Safari has the same double-wishbone with torsion bar IFS for both the 4X2 and 4X4.

Hope someone can confirm this.

Yes the shock absorbers or damper whatever you call it. The 4X2 and 4X4 is having same setup , but i want to know whether the part nos of the dampers is different and whether the ones on 4X4 are stiffer than the 4X2

My experience with Vogtland Springs : Esteem 2006.

Hi guys, I used to own a 2005 Esteem that I just sold due to lack of parking space. A few months back I had gotten Vogtland lowering springs for my car. They costed me a total of Rs.28000 shipped to my house. It was the last set in India!

Here's my short experience with the springs.

Handling : The car handled like a dream for the 4500 kilometers I had the springs on. It took a week to settle in, roughly about 250-300 kilometers and once settled they were ready to roll. The car could easily take corners at 90-120, also thanking the 15" Upgraded wheel setup. However there were some bottoming out issues which were sorted once I got the fenders rolled at Autopsyche.
Also, thanks to arush for the good advice and the fender setup.

Ride Quality : The ride was harsh at first but then settled a bit, a little bumpy at lower speeds, but settled at higher. Once I learnt how to drive with the springs in the ride for most part was sorted. Also noticing I had 45 profile tires, the ride was decent.

VFM : At that price, and if you want a combo of stance and ride quality I would say definitely, the only issue being they aren't available now afaik. Also, H&R is the only other comp.
