Hey RE35 is not for windshield. It will transmit only 35% light. You need to stick to CR70 for the front windshield.
Hi thelightening, am sorry. I dunt know much abt ths ratings. . Can you please tell me how much CR70 would cost for the windscreen (i10)

I am pretty not sure abt the price factor. But I feel it will cost you around 6k Approx. Its from 3M Crystalline Series. But you need to be careful and should not stick any stickers (like car parking, pollution control) on your front windshield after this.

Thanks dude. Let me have it installed next week. I had reported an issue wrt to glade of the beige dashboard on the windshield to Hyundai customer care by mail yesterday. I got a call today and they had registered a complaint. Quick response from them. Let us see if they can resolve the issue, or atleast provide a solution for this issue.

The film should have a printed 3M logo all over.

somehow I feel that 5.7k is very high for 70% visibility 3M. it is available for 1800 bucks in Gurgaon, bill, and 3M watermarking can be seen too.

There are different types of 3M films you know. The price he has paid is for CR series in which the CR70 has a heat rejection of 50%. You must be talking about SP70 in which the heat rejection is 23%, hardly any difference from not having film.

Got these prices (not negotiated yet) from one of the official 3M sun film dealers in Secunderabad -

Car: Honda Civic

Option 1: CR50 sides + CR70 back = 10200 INR
Option 2: RE50 sides + CR70 back = 7200 INR

Haven't enquired about the warranty but 3M site lists 5 years for CR films and 3 years for RE films. I guess the authorized dealer should honour these.

This is too expensive for me. I will do some more research. I don't like really dark films and I somehow feel the clean looks of my black Civic will be spoilt by adding sun film. Perhaps I should consider CR40 or RE35 for the sides. That should help bring down the price.

Of course, I need to do the usual shopping around too (other dealers for 3M including Honda showroom itself, and Llumar). 3M website lists Honda showrooms as an authorized dealer but I'm sure their prices will be even higher.

Also, has anyone got front windshield filming done at a 3M dealer? I've heard horror stories about short-circuited dashboard electricals because of all the water that needs to be used to constantly wash the windshield (from the inside) during the filming process. I've read elsewhere on the forums that only the V-Kool guys seem to do this critical bit of work very well (without damage).

Regards,
spadix

Spadix - Why are you putting CR70 on the back? I know what the Rules are but no one checks the back, go ahead and put the same film that you are putting on the sides, on the back. The CR70 will probably cost like 5.5k for that one windshield.

CR70 should be used on the front if you want, but certainly not worth it for the side.

CR40 wont bring down the price, but compared to option 1 it will be the same, since it is still the CR range.

RE 35 too will keep the price the same, but if you use RE on the rear also the overall price will come down by around 2k compared to option 2.

RE35 is darker than RE50 and the same for CR40. The number relates to the amount of visible light transmission.

Hey Akshay, thanks a lot for the guidance! If I read you correctly, you're saying CR is worth it only for the front, and it's better to stick with RE50 for both the sides and back.

I think that should really bring the price down. The CR definitely looks good feature-wise (including that 5-year warranty) but I guess one can't have it all.

The only question I have then is whether the metal content in the RE films interferes with cell phone reception (for those not driving, of course).
