Dude,

If you plan to move to bangy, buy the car in Bangy. Unless you are getting a steal in Mumbai.

@prabhuav

I may be relocating to bangy but that is not confirmed yet and even if I do,it won't be permanent.Just for a year or two at the most.So I guess it would make sense to buy one from Mumbai, especially since I can't wait much longer to buy a dream car. And AFAIK bangy cars command a premium, especially performance cars like the Elantra, with good reason too as it seems from this thread with users like brraj and satya

And no, TCS does not come on at 205 kmph.

And no, it does not make it more stable than the accord.

And this is the Getz CRDi thread, lets move this to your Elantra mods thread?

TCS wont come into play in the lateral G-Force while cornering? can you give one good reason why?

TCS comes into play when the tyre loses traction i.e. when it starts spinning. TCS does not come into play when the tyre has excess sideways force. That is what ESP does and not TCS.

ESP controls the sideways loss in control.

because it helps limit tyre slip. now if your tyres slip while your cornering of course itll come on.

yup, you are right. but we are talking about TCS while cornering. ESP will apply brakes automatically in such a way the car will be in control, it is compliment by ABS too. But here while corning TCS also comes into play.

You are also right about tyre loses traction, when tyre starts spinning... what TCS do?

I don't think it'll come on when you're doing high speed cornering unless you try & accelerate during the same. Like Vid mentioned that's the ESP's function. TCS IMO prevents the tyre from losing traction not grip.

P.S. Tadu is right. Read here: http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/brake12.pdf HowStuffWorks "Traction Control Explained"

It works to stop wheels losing traction when accelerating, not when they loose grip. Also, a lot of people mistake Traction & Grip as one & the same, and that is absolutely not true. Remember that.

Why? losing traction part you are right.

this site gives very good information. But it is half given
HowStuffWorks "Traction Control Explained"

and
http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/brake12.pdf

is a very useful guide. thanx for sharing.

"once activated, the TRAC system reduces engine torque and drive wheel speed as necessary to bring the vehicles uncder control which improves vehical stability when starting, accelerating or turning on slippery roads."

Thanks ishan for the links. I'm just looking for the bosch document I have that explains both in detail.

Another short explanation is TCS limits wheel spinning and ESP is what limits the skidding. Skidding is not to be confused with ABS as ABS will work only when brakes are applied.

At 205kmph there is no way in hell that the wheels will spin. At that speed to induce a wheel spin the tyres should be going faster than what they will be at 205kmph. Unless ofcourse you were driving on oil or ice.
