I think it's an F or H series, not a B series. Can't remember, though.

i purchased a 65 beetle in 2004 that was fitted with a 1000 engine, the engineer fitted a 800 radiator and the car was overheating, but was running well other wise, we changed the radiator with the one for Indica made by behr ,the car ran well and i tried running long distances, one day the thermostat switch didn't work and the fan remained off,so the engine overheated/seized,i got the original engine with the car,so i preferred to overhaul the original vw engine rather building the 1000 engine, so its now back to original, its a personal choice but i love the sound of original engine, but i have seen many (3 in ludhiana) that are running on gypsy ,esteem engines with ac.will dig some pics

You can but please dont do it..

Yes you can fit, but I doubt the stability of the car will detoriate

since the beetles are air cooled compact engines

as advised earlier by fellow members

try to restore it in pristine condition and enjoyyyyy

plus you will have a return on your investment.

Sounds like an ambitious project. Do update us with pics as and when you progress.

Inderpal sirji, does the car run well with an esteem or a gypsy engine?
