To all Alto owners:

I retrofitted my 2006 Alto with a CNG kit from BRC. Its really cheap to run. I used to spend Rs. 4,000 pm on petrol which got reducec to Rs. 1,500 pm. And the performance drop is very very marginal. I mean, i am not going to race my alto. From point A to B, its the best.
Should convert it if you have CNG facilites available in your city.

I have heard Apolos are good. And should i go for tubeless ? i have read somewhere that it's only useful for high speed driving for long hours.

Hi,

please pick up 145/80 R12 Michelin XM1+. Little expensive tyre but fantastic ride comfort and good handling and braking. They will last for 40000km easily.(I am using this tyre for 1 yr now, run about 7000km on this one, no thread loss till date and looks brand new still)

Next best option is Goodyear, they will also run for about 60000km without any issue and good ride comfort and stability.

Go for Michelin XM1+, It will give you good ride.
Yes tubeless. Good for long or short rides. Anything which is good for long drives would definitely be better for short drives too.

Four to five months back 145/80 R12 cost was Rs 1900 and 155/70 price was 2500 both tubeless in Kochi.

Cost in bangalore for Michelin 145 80 R12 is about 2.2k-2.35k per tyre. Including taxes and with Bill and warranty.

I purchased two 155/70 for Rs 2500 apiece, including valves and fitment. balancing and alignment extra in January this year.
Rubber prices have shot up since then.

hi vaidya, you can go for 155/70/12 upgrade which will run equivalent to stock tire size, but will enhance looks of your ride and increase grip..go for Michelin XM1+ tubeless tires, they are very silent and good for city run also..Apolo acelere are good tires too check if they are available in 144/80/12 or 155/70/12..

The left tail light of my Alto was punctured when my son closed the gate in a hurry and a projection in it hit the car. Just the lens is broken, but the MSM guys say it alone can't be replaced and I have to go for the entire assembly for Rs 700.00. Will it be possible to get a lens separately somewhere?

Get the Light replaced because if you get just the lense replaced it may be of a local quality and you will see the fading and then you will get the light assembly changed so just get it changed rite now it self.

Cover it up with M-Seal if the gap is so small that you can't insert your finger in it. If you are interested in getting only an original lens, you can get one from scrap & salvage department, somewhere in the vicinity of a MASS body shop. Else, buy the original MGP .

The correct tyres are Bridgestone S322 145/70 R12. Dont deviate from this configuration.
