Conversion from auto to manual tranny, you are looking at upwards of 1.5 lak minimum.
Hi,

I would suggest go for a RS or old gen civic. I am assuming you only quoted the figure for the gearbox as cost including engine + gearbox + modding will be prohibitive.(upwards of 4-5 lakhs minimum depending on how wild he wants to go)

Cheaper option buy a really old gen accord/civic/prelude/crx and plop a B20 engine and you are set. Cost of car + engine + mods max approx 6-7 lakhs including repaint, suspension, tyres and all.

Buy an OHC Vtec, spend a couple of lakhs, and you should be getting close to B series engines.

how good would a 2003 ford mondeo 2L inline 4 cylinder 16v engine be?

it puts out ~138BHP@6000rpm and 192Nm@4500rpm and has manual 5speed transmission.

i have read only good things about the engine. apparently it can be modded to 200whp NA!
and TC versions go right up to 360BHP without much effort and there is even word 500BHP mods.

the killer is the 1400kg weight. if i could plant this engine in a ikon.......sighhhhhhhh........
