If you look at the first page, you can see that these are not the stock rims.

Drive report!

I thought this is appropriate since the car has been overhauled in and out.

Before:

I remember how the car used to feel sluggish and underpowered because of the sad state that it was in. It used to have fuel leaks and the entire cabin used to smell of petrol. The roof was badly damaged, and during rains the water used to seep through and leave a big puddle on the passenger side floor mat. In the heat, the car felt worse than a sauna, the air conditioning used to just sound as if it was blowing air. To cut it short, the car was a pain.

After:

Engine wise the car went through a complete overhaul and numerous parts had to be replaced, such as brake pads, rotors, power steering, fuel pump etc. Although it is a tiny 1.6 102bhp engine and add to that an automatic, the car can move. I am not exaggerating when i say that im impressed with this engine, as ive driven swifts, honda city's all 100 bhp engines however, the power delivery of this car is far different. Was also surprised at the amazing mileage of 11-12 kmpl that i am getting, no jokes i thought the fuel needle was stuck and had Arush check it again, only to find nothing wrong with it. Have had the car for about a week, driving it daily and am loving every moment of it. Another thing i noticed, the car isn't as subtle as i thought it would be, as there were still people checking the car out. Altogether im quite happy and impressed with my modest German tank.

Mods:

Exterior

HID projector head lights running 6000k phillips HIDs on low beam
Regular Halogens on High Beam
6000k phillips HIDs on Fogs
Dual paintjob, Charcoal grey and black on the roof
M3 bodykit
17 inch Lenso Eagles running Yokohama A-drive R1 215/45/17
Magnaflow Exhaust
K&N Stock filter

Interiors

Full black leather upholstery
Carbon fiber trim kit
Engine start button
Alpine XDA 100 headunit
Bull audio components in the front
Bull audio coaxials at the back
Audison 5 channel amplifier
IDQ 12 inch subwoofer

Thank you all for the comments and suggestions. The tail light bit has been considered, will be getting them changed shortly. Will post pics of interiors soon, having too much fun driving it!

Cheers

Night shots are amazing. Love the angel eyes.

Another good mod would have been to do it up like the way the M3 was done up in the game NFS Mostwanted

thats a very nicely done car, it shows the work put in by the bmw lover owner!

here are some more ideas i can give you, i had this 1998 E36 328i few years back.

i agree with arush about the tail-lights, those standard clear lens red and white one gives the car a better look from the rear.

you can see in the photos, the tail-lights make a difference in the car!

Thanks Parm, that is a very nicely maintained 328, wish i had that spec of an engine on mine but oh well! I am 100% going in for the clear lens tail lamp, however, knowing me i'll most likely smoke that as well

IMHO - Just get a light tint kind of smoked effect, definately not dark, else the purpose of changing the same is defeated

Hello all. A small question that's been eating my head, the fuel cap of the E36 states that it should get 95 octane fuel. According to which i should only be filling it up with speed 97, however with 70 rs a litre, id rather not! Want to confirm from other E36 owners whether regular speed or power is good enough or should i look into buying a petrol pump soon. Cheers.

Hi Abix,

I had checked with Navnit Motors when I bought my E36 and they said regular speed is enough.

I have ben filling regular speed and as you said it returns 12 Kmpl which is amazing for such a big car and yes, it does feel like a tank with it's sturdy build.

Could you tell me if you see a substantial diff in power with K&N Filter ? I am planning to put one for my Bimmer too. Also, how much did M3 Kit cost you? Is it from BMW Showroom itself?

Cheers

Hi inder, thanks for assurance on the fuel front. Im running a stock K&N filter as advised by BMW tuners. However, my car got overhauled completely, so compared to before it drives 100 times better but i don't know just exactly what difference the K&N filter made. Although i got a chance to drive a stock E36 316 and one with a K&N filter, cat back exhaust and a remap and then the difference is noticeable. Ive already ordered my remapped ECU.

Cheers
