This mod is done by a local expert in a place called Kanodhar, near Palanpur (Gujarat).

There's quite a few ingenious modifications around. This one apparantly only has the brake modified to allow operation by hand.

One modified moped I saw had a mechanism to pull one rear wheel off the ground to allow free movement for the wheel when starting the engine. The driver raises the wheel off the ground, operates the kick start (again modified for use by hand), lowers the wheel back to the ground and takes off - all three steps done by hand.

Good so see people creating these work arounds to help those who need it.
