Need Help on the Paint Job for my M800..

Hi Guys,

I need some assistance in decidng the budget for Paint and some body work and new Tyers for my M800.

Here is what I want to know:

1 Cost of Paint work for my entire car (White colour)
2 Cost of Body work repair, mainly 2 major dents (one at back and one on front door)
3 cost of New Ruber grips for doors and windows.
4 cost for a New ceiling interior.
5 cost of 4 new Tyers (normal ones, no radials)

I wanted to redo the entire car but I just bought a new Zen Estilo, so running low on budgets.

I'd really appreciate your assistance in letting me decide the cost

Cost of paint would be around 8k to 10k for white and for metalic it will 12k to 14k.
Denting would be around 2k to 3k.

this is the rate in Hyderabad in local paint shop.

Paint job for M800

Hi,
Reviving an old thread,I am planning to give a fresh life to my 800 ('96 model).
Basically it requires a some body work ,a good paint job and some interior work(carpet and ceiling).
Pics of the car are in my gallery section.

The engine is in very good condition, so I don’t what to mess with it.
If possible ,I wish to let the electricals be left untouched while painting.
Bhpians please guide me about:
1.)What company paint could I choose.(Also choice betweenearl white color or snow white)
2.)Is it possible to go for full body paintjob without dis-assembling engine or messing electricals?
3.) In almost all makeovers in T-Bhp I notice that after paintjob upholstery work and new tints for windows are done.
Is it because during painting seats get soiled ?
My seats are fabric type and are in quite good condition. So I wish to retain them. What special precautions do I need to take for that.
Same goes for window tints too. I like them and don’t need replacement.
4.)There is some anti rust coating(by manufacturer) on underside of wheel-well and underbody. During paint-job ,do they peel it off?
In such a case, will I get an equally good coating in market?
5.) Finally,Can I entrust the work to a local garage(with some kind of paint booth)? how much can it cost me at a good local garage(paint job+denting). Can I leave the car with them and trust they don’t mess with engine and other good parts? Or should I be monitoring the activity daily? In later case I can’t spend more than 3 continous days, will the work be over in such short time?

I thought dry weather of this summer suits paintjobs best. Hence going for it now.Morever the six months service is also overdue. So, I wish to get the paintjob done first then get it serviced soon.
Also, Hyderbad bhpians ,please suggest a good local paint shop.(I don’t want spend a bomb at M.A.S.S) .
Thanks folks.

Hey Deetee,

I have been through this process buddy and am giving you my two cents on this. I shall attempt to suggest point by point for what I can suggest.. Do take a look at my gallery and there you will see good Betsy !!

The engine is in very good condition, so I don’t what to mess with it.
If possible ,I wish to let the electricals be left untouched while painting.

I added a K&N replacement Air filter and am scouting for FFE.

Bhpians please guide me about:
1.)What company paint could I choose.(Also choice betweenearl white color or snow white)

Snow white is a my choice for I feel that pearl white does not suit a small car (but that my choice) and more so I was very worried about a touch up job later which will likely create a paint matching scenario, with the regular white and a touch up a total rubbing & Polish pretty much does the trick, will show much later though.

2.)Is it possible to go for full body paintjob without dis-assembling engine or messing electricals?

I was advised against it to avoid areas left untouched and I live in Chennai (Coastal area so rusting is a huge issue for a old car)

3.) Finally,Can I entrust the work to a local garage ..........................................

Personally I vouch for MASS (CARS in chennai) since they have a great paint booth and i have some friends there and so the job gets done properly.

Thanks for quick reply Srini,
I too know that MASS will do very good job ( I regularly get it serviced at MASS only-So I know their sophisticated paint booth). But the quote they gave me is too much . It costs more than half of the car's market price.
That's why I started looking for local alternatives.
And the trouble with local garages is about finding a reliable and good one. That is what am upto now.
