re: Maruti 800 Restoration Project

Had a visit to the garage today at 5:30 pm and was surprised that i could see some works. He got 3 doors and trunk from scrap yard and fitted for trial. He said that he couldn't get the front right door and that he will manage to get it tomorrow. He had to remove fender and said there are some holes and rust that he will care of it.

Please advise me whether my tinker is on the right track.

re: Maruti 800 Restoration Project

The tinker had started working of my maruti 800. He started working on the trunk roof rail. as the earlier door photos show that 4 doors and dicky were rusted to the core (almost powdering when we tap the doors), the tinker managed 3 doors and the dicky from the scrap yard. I checked each door and were very good with zero rust. He couldn't get one door and will try to get it in a day or 2.

We also noticed there were rust and holes on the rear wheel mud panels. that also have to rectified. he wanted to remove the fuel tank before he enters those areas.

Gave the car for tinkering on 10th Dec and its 4 days. quite decent job for 4 days.

I am also trying to install the remote fuel and boot release.

re: Maruti 800 Restoration Project

3 doors and 1 dicky from scrap yard. I am amused. when i went to the scrap yard they quoted Rs. 1500 per door (which is without any rust) and Rs. 1000 (for the rusted one), dicky Rs. 2000 (which is without any rust) and Rs. 1000 (for the rusted one). but how did my tinker manage 3 doors and 1 dicky? My total budget to him is Rs. 8000

Re: Maruti 800 Restoration Project

Be sure that the quoted amount is inclusive of all the parts that he is going to procure.

Any update on the progress?
