First and foremost, I would like to thank all you guys for your interest and encouragement. I hope I can develop a product which will match your expectations on performance and pricing.

So when is test report surfacing ??? Try talking to Gunbir. He uses this kind of stuff on a professional basis all the time. I think you would get a REAL feedback from him.

Installers are the best judge for this kind of thing. We as consumers may not have the expertise to differentiate very well.

Well guys, very sorry for the delay.

The rubber sheet part is ready but at the moment I am struggling with making the product self adhesive. For the adhesive I am outsourcing the job and hence the development is slower that what I want it to be.

I have had 2 adhesive trials, and both of them I rejected myself.
In one trial the adhesive bonded to the metal surface well but struggled to bond with the rubber. In the second trial we used a rubber based adhesive, it bonded well, but it smelled like dendrite... so I dont think I ll use that and stink up your cars..

I am getting my next sample on Wednesday, hopefully this till it ll click.

Will keep this thread updated.

Have tried and worked with 3M products before for adhesive rubber foam tapes etc..

They are excellent but way too expensive.

Using 3m adhesive products will drive up the cost of the final product quite a bit, and hence I wish to avoid that...

If all fails..then maybe..

Also, after a little more research and reading the "Alternative material for Dampening" thread, I have decided to make the product fire retardant by design. I hope to keep this a standard feature in the product, for enhanced safety.

I hope to display this property successfully in the first sample I send to you guys..

@Abhij: I had the contact of a guy who specializes in adhesives. Good products comparable to 3M a a fraction of the cost. Will try to search for his card if you are interested. He is based in hyderabad and recently sent up a plant in Goa.

Please find me someone good dude...

I have spoken to two people here in Kolkata... and both seem to be certifiable idiots!
