Got the same radiator braced again, will need to get a new radiator when i go for the engine transplant, so didn't feel like buying a new radiator , the car runs up a little hotter with the A/C turned on , other wise it's okay , will have to live with this for the time being.

Put a fan (from Sumo or Safari) in front of it. Have it with a manual switch.

Then have it with a direct switch. Heating problem would go.

The car is in the shop again, the engine mountings give away after 1000KM of driving after the last mounting change, it happened 3 times in a span of 6 months and each time the engine would tilt and hit the radiator, damaging the radiator cores, breaking the cooling fan.So this time we have decided to go in for a different engine mountings, instead of the Fiat Petrol mountings original BMC mountings will go in, the chassis and some other parts are being chopped away and the engine's height will drop a couple of inches this time.Does that help the center of gravity ? Hope it works this time.

This time the radiator is pretty much damaged and is beyond repair so will have to source a new one too, previously all the shells in the radiator that wes damaged were braced and sealed rendering those shells useless. Will try to post pictures of the works being carried out.

The car's done around 11500 kms after the rebuild and engine is almost at the end of it's life cycle.

@ muneemmk : Very nice job. Certainly done with a lot of passion.

Suggestion: Why not get the AVIGO Dashboard. It look very retro IMHO.

Query: Is the pic on your avatar a different car than your's. In case it is can you post a few pics of the same?

It's my car, only worked upon by a bhpian in Photoshop

The Avigo Dashboard was not available off the shelf when i went in for the resto/mods,so tried making it out of metal, then found out that even the Gauges/Speedo meters are also not available, so shelved the whole idea, and bought a grande dash along with the meter console.

Ok saw the PS image. The 1st AUDI type grill image looks damn good.
I think you could look a bit more since the AVIGO has been around for about 4-5 years now so the dash should be available.

Dear Bottle. You are right they have done not only good but outstanding job.
As far as I think the BEST tin work, denting, painting on cars and bikes in iNDIA is done in south indian towns they take pains to alter, modify, and all this is done manually which our Mumbai garages will find time cosuming and senseless.Hats off to these marvalous hands.

I really don't get the point of this car running on diesel. It runs for 10K, the you either do major engine work, or change the engine. Mark my words dude, 1800 ISZ is the way to go!!! You dont do enough driving to plonk in a diesel!!

Are you some kind of petrol engine dealer or do you have any petrol engines in stock,is that why you have been pushing me so much to get a ISZ1800.

Re: MY 32 Year Old Ambassdor Rebuild , Mark 3 To AVIGO

When I first saw this thread, I didn't have any experience with used cars but after getting one for me and thought of doing some modifications in your line, I understood the value of your determination! It was really awesome man! Congratulations and this is something that you can take pride on for the rest of your life.

Wow that is some revival, the thread and the car. Looking forward to your update on the car.

Any reason why the car has been idle for long? You can start with a story on what transpired in the last 9yrs with the car :-).
