Re: Cheaper options: Spare parts for the Baleno sedan

Hi Guys,
Iam in market for used Baleno, have come across few 2005, 2006 cars with 60K on the odo. Will check the service history and take the vehicle to authorized service center for inspection.
Question: Are parts easily available, will there be any difficulty in getting the same.
Thanks,

Parts are easily available, only a bit expensive, as most of them are SGP.

Thanks,
As Shashi mentioned, parts are easily available but expensive. The most I had to wait was 3 days for the wheel bearing once. All other replacement were as a precautionary measure and did not take more than a week.

Shashi has quoted a couple of options in the MGA thread started by him. You need to dig into 10 or more pages to check that. Let me see if I can find that in the evening.

Lumax aftermarket makes one IIRC, that's the cheapest I guess at about 2-3k.

Shashi

Edit: Found this Depon branded HL for 4k: https://paytmmall.com/depon-202016-h...10DEC94B2D-pdp

What were the symptoms that you observed while driving with the old worn out bearing?

Have you replaced the rear or front wheel bearing? Is it just the bearing or Hub? How much did it cost you?

The rear left wheel bearing on my Baleno went for a toss without announcing during 2015. I was taking a turn at Ashoka Pillar and then the humming started. It was loud in the cabin even though it did not appear as much when I heard it outside. It increased as the speed increased and I could not go beyond 35-40kmph.

The wheel bearing replacement costed me 8.8k at Suraksha, Bommanahalli. Yes it is not just a bearing, it is a hub included which makes it costlier.

The rear right was replaced just after I got the car during 2011 at Mandovi, Shanthinagar and that was for 8.2k. This was as a precautionary measure as the play in the wheel exceeded the limits.

Okay, mine too is diagnosed to be faulty and need to be replaced.

And apart from that, it is going to cost me a bomb shortly. Some issues with the crankshaft. Need a replacement, and other costs associated with engine disassembly, labour etc.
Waiting for the quotes and parts availability.
Fingers crossed!

You should be able to get the wheel bearings(including the hub) for about 1k each in the outside market, Made by NTN Bearings.

Re: Cheaper options: Spare parts for the Baleno sedan

Had to replace the crank shaft of my Baleno as the Key Way turned out to be worn out and causing severe pick up issues and eventually it could have caused an engine cessation as told. The car has run 1.3L and not sure why this had happened prematurely. A symptom that it had was that Crank shaft pulley was loose and it was wobbling due to its being bolt becoming loose. This wobbling could have caused the key way to wear out is our assumption. By the time I repaired that wobbling, it was late and the damage was done on the crank shaft.

A new SGP crank shaft is very expensive, but we(mechanic) managed to get second hand one for half the price. Had to remove the engine and rebuild it.

Old crank shaft:

Key way on the crank shaft which worn out:

New crank shaft key way:

New crank shaft assembled on to the block:

Awaiting further job of putting back the engine into the car. Will post an update once it is up and running.
