And if the radiator needs to be replaced, you can get the part number & price on another thread about Maruti spares.
Thanks for your support on the issue Supreme Baleno. I had some issue with the AC and took the car to the neighbouring AC mechanic yesterday. I had asked him to have a look at the radiator as well and he gave me a quote of 3k+ for replacing it with a new one. However, one of his friends has a small shop for repairs on radiators. He was asked to come and have a look at the severity of the damage. This guy suggested that I change only the top cover of the radiator which would cost me between 1200 to 1500 rupees. I will have to take the car for getting it replaced very soon. Will update one that is done.

Re: Cheaper options: Spare parts for the Baleno sedan

Does anyone know if Baleno's headlamp is a plastic or glass. It looks glass to me, but just confirming.

Planning to buy a headlamp restoration kit which is used for plastic and wondering if the Baleno has a glass material in which case it will not help.

Re: Cheaper options: Spare parts for the Baleno sedan

@balenoed_, as keroo1099 mentioned, the Baleno's headlamp is glass.
Since one of the headlamps of my Baleno had some discolouration, had some time ago toyed with the idea of changing them. I think I was quoted Rs3500 odd per piece IIRC.

Re: Cheaper options: Spare parts for the Baleno sedan

I am in need of below things for my 90k km run 2004 Baleno Vxi :

1. Front RHS lower arm.
2. Front tie rod ends ( RHS and LHS).
3. AC Compressor.

Can anyone suggest any reliable aftermarket options for the above?

Thanks in advance.

I had a month ago got the front LHS lower arm replaced. It cost Rs2700. I don't remember the brand, but it was bought from a Mint parts shop in Kerala. You should be able to source it from a parts shop in your area - item#2 in your list should also be available. Not sure about the AC compressor though.

I suggest you get a second opinion from another trustable car-AC (auto-electrical) shop before proceeding with the AC compressor replacement, since that is a costly replacement. Old car salvage yards (aakri kada in local lingo) is another option to try for a used AC compressor at much lower price.

It would be great if you could recollect the brand, I would prefer a very reliable and yet reasonably priced spares for these kind of critical parts.

Talked to my mechanic & he said the brand is Sushi (not sure if spelling is correct). He mentioned another brand called Kamco - Taiwan import.

Do look on boodmo website - they might have other options too.

Re: Cheaper options: Spare parts for the Baleno sedan

Just learnt from my mechanic that the Ball joint (is it also called as Tie Rod?) & Tie Rod End of my Baleno had become weak and need a replacement. Though I did not feel any symptoms in the drive and suspension performance, it seems that this could cause an alignment problem and possible tyre wear out if not replaced.

As per him, the SGP costs 18K. I asked him to look for an OEM one and he found it at 4K. Trying to source it. Anyone over here who had a similar case.

I just heard from my local auto-parts store that the AC compressor of the Tata Safari (costs Rs.12,000) is a direct fit for the Baleno1.6. Just that the belt (width and/or teeth) is different. So my mechanic said we would have to use the pulley from the old AC.

Anyone knows about any other car's AC compressor that's a direct fit for the Baleno ?

Thanks for the info. Is it advised to replace those in pair?

Thanks for the pointer supremebaleno. Will keep this in note. As of now, my AC technician has put a possible fix, and it seems to work. Noise is there, but has reduced if compared to earlier state. And cooling is ok and acceptable. Will see if I can get away without a compressor replacement.

Yes, it is better to replace as a pair. The OEM part came as a pair and I don't think I had an option to buy just one out of that. Anyway's just get both replaced - peace of mind and not to worry about the other one again later.

That's two parts - Tie Rod and Steering ball joint - that are connected.
