The old FIAT 1100 body with a Palio 1.6 engine

Recently an idea has been poping up in my mind every now and then.

Every time i think about it and discuss it with my friend (and a fellow BHPian), he suggests that this is not possible and asks me to scrap the idea.

What I have in my mind is to buy an old scrap Fiat 1100 and merge it with the Palio 1.6 MPFI engine. If not this, then go for the Palio 1.2 engine.

Before anybody blasts out the possibilities i would like to say that if done and completed, it would not be used for Racing or any sort of stunts.

Keeping in mind the modifications to the Chassis, a bit to the body and maybe a whole new set of axels from the Palio itself (axels only if required) what do the Bhpian's think of this crazy idea.

only problem you would have is the gear box as the palio is a fwd and the 1100 is a rwd.

i would suggest a baleno engine with a gypsy gear box.

Here is a Fiat with a Gypsy Engine and geearbox. Hope it gives you inspiration for the same!!

The reason for this being that in Palio, most things are electronically controlled, via the ECU. So even though theoritically it might be possible to fit the 1.6 engine into the Fiat 1100, I think practically it is not a very feasible option.
You can go in for some other engine. Like Cyrus suggested, go in for a Gypsy engine. There are other options available as well. Esteem Engine is another one.
