modding the heavens out from esteem

Hey Dragger & Iceman,
I have just got a 2001 Esteem MPFI,
I want to fit a K&N filter on it,

Is it advisible to fit K&N on MPFI or is it goes better with Carbd ones.
Also will ther be a considerable difference in Performance & FE

Also about Free Flow exhausts - Are they harmfull for the Engine?

I am not quite aware of the technicalities. this is my first car.
