I don't think there is a need to modify the head.
In this case wee need to slightly decrease the compression, not increase. So May be you can do with a double gasket.
If TC can be done go for it. You can think of head mods / gaskets later if the problem of over heating arises.

That was a good suggestion Satish
presently i'm in TX, US. One of my friends wants to go for a K&N for his Palio 1.2. i'm going to buy one for him.
I own Palio 1.9D and wanted to check with you guys what wud be the best solution for Palio 1.9 D. I'm not looking for a big diff in Power and FE.
My pref. wud be a little push in power without any impact on current FE or a little improvement on current FE wud be welcome .
on K&N site, what I see is this part number for the most of the Palio model.
Replacement Air Filter - part # 33-2793.
what do u guys mean by the complete kit for K&N?? is there anything else that makes complete kit for K&N?
is the above filter is correct for Palio D and Palio 1.2?
if its not the complete K&N kit,, what else is required? and what is the diff between complete kit and just the above item I have mentioned.
thanks for your inputs in advance.

sorry but would like to contradit
there cant be knocking in diesel engines due to higher brake mean effective pressurs<says sir harry recardo!the bible of auto engines!!!>
u need to reset the injection pressure accordingly to reduce the diesel noise.
the same bottom half with dohc head 1.9 fiat lancia engine gives 148 bhp in turbo form invarious cars including cadillac bls
