I was just trying to explain the only disadvantage that came to my mind.

Also this technology is something similar to what we use on our phone's screen. Remember those 'Scratch Guards'.
They usually come precut,so you need to just stick them.
Similarly this film will be precut for different parts (Bumpers,Fenders,Rear View Mirrors, etc.) and will be installed by a professional.

Can someone try and find out the overall cost of the application of this film?
I assume that it would be costly but probably better then re-painting your car.

I remember buying my Scratch Guard for Rs.350/- and now you do get some China made ones which do similar job for about Rs.50/-.

I found the Brochure that I had from last years Autocar Performance show.

Sorry I didn't have a scanner so Clicked some pics of it.

By the way their website isn't working.
In the year 2004-05 V12 had posted pics of a white Porsche 911 sporting a navy blue car-bra.

Ah! Blue bra on white body! Moving up the value chain from being a protective sheath to a fashion statement.

Yes, it is a protective film mostly used for high end cars. 3M India imports these from US and are marketing it in India. It is costlier than normal scratch guard films. You can get these films done from 3M dealerships across India.

Re: Clear Protective Car Bra - Pros and Cons

Sorry to bring up a really old thread but I used the search feature. Has this caught on in India? Do many people use this? How much does it cost?

What were you searching for? Clear Bra/protective paint or generic bras?

No one uses generic bras in India. However protective coating has a decent market which is growing.

I never understood why bras is used on cars in US either. Saw them in states which experiences hot weather, cold weather, humid weather. Is there any real advantage?

Paint protection films can also be used to protect the paint and finish.

Check this out : https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modif...-film-ppf.html (Paint Protection Film (PPF))

I searched for 3M clear bra. I got one on my 2012 Passat here in US the whole front bumper, 1/3rd of the hood and some portion of the fenders is done to protect the front from rock chips at highway speeds. It is still quit a bit expensive here in US mainly because the labor cost is high to install it. I was wondering what does it cost in India.
Here is the picture of it and you cannot see it unless you go close to it.

Re: Clear Protective Car Bra - Pros and Cons

But even no clear bra's are available. Its some material draped around the front, which like its other cousin does make the goods less sightly.
