The search is still on...

I have been seeking the woody citrusy smell for my car for a long time now. Needless to say the search has not yielded any results.

I was in London a long time back and sat in a cab... it had that woody citrusy smell and I have been trying to replicate it in my car ever since.

Ambipur I have no regards for.

A lot of talk on this thread about the new car smell. I love it too. While we seek the new car smell, I would like you to know a little more about it. Do check the below mentioned link -

New car smell - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

While the smell is awesome, it seems to have health hazards.

Cheers

Hi,

I have two cakes of Air wick one behind and one in the front, under the carpets leaving some space for the cakes to evoporate. Once in two months I change them with new flavours. Keeps the car smelling nice and also avoids any unwanted guests(our insect friends!!).

what you guys are referring to is the "my shaldan" range of japanese air freshners. they have been popular internationally for quite some time now but have only recently started making its presence felt in India. It's basically a gel like substance that emits a natural fruit like fragrance (someone turned the idea of keeping a fresh fruit below the seat as suggested in a beginning post into a commercial application). it is made from limonene which is a natural extract derived from the peel of citrus fruits. the scent is very good and a can for 200 rs. lasts for a couple of months. the two scents i have seen are squash and lime. i find squash the best which actually smells like oranges as you guys described. also seeing it in more and more cars daily so i guess people are liking it.

My Shaldan range smells great and now there are many flavors like Squash, Lime, Herbal, Orange..etc.

Major con is that it is Rs 200 and dries out fast.
Pro is that you need not switch on the blower for it to work like in Ambipur, you can just place the tin in cup holders; just be careful not be expose it to sun directly.

'MY Shaldan' Orange flavour does the jobe well for me. Keeps the car fresh with an orange fragrance for 30-40 days before I buy a new one.
