How much would it cost to Mod a Skoda 1.8TPi to vRS?

Guys,

Decided to get my hands on to the the skoda 1.8 TPI petrol (not the RS version). The asking price is 6 and might get for 5.5(is it worth it???)

The point i am posting this is to have a clear idea about the cost involved to get it converted into rs( RS Bumper, spoiler, xenon headlamps and sunroof).Don't want any other goodies like cruise control or head lamp washer. How much should i invest to get up to the RS.

And also would like to get suggestions on is it worth getting a 1.8 tpi and modifying it into RS or will it be more worth buying a second hand RS.

And also please give in views about the engine life of 1.8 tpi vRs as iam planning for a long term usage(may be some 10 to 20 years )

Please drop in your views especially the facts regarding the engine life....

Thanking you,

Hafi

They both run the same engines.

If you are paying close to 6 for a 1.8 TPi, makes sense to get a used vRS for around 7.7 - 8 L. If you go about putting stuff on teh TPi to match the RS you would probably end up spending more

Cheers

the thing is that i had been looking for are RS for a long time...seems like there are no speed freaks over here....this one(the 1.8 tpi) which iam talking about is owned by an older guy...hence there was no way for me other than to give up for the 1.8 tpi...

If you're talking new car - then I'd prefer a TPi any day as you get to choose your own set of alloys, rubber, bodykit etc.

But in terms of used car, I think the price difference between a RS and TPi is not so much, so RS makes more sense.

Replica RS Bumber : 15k
Xenon lights : 20-50k depending on the quality
Sunroof : 25-50k depending on brand and size.
Replica Rear spoiler : 5-7k
Alloys + tyres : 35k - 55k

If you really want all these, it makes sense to buy a RS instead.

If this car is absolutely mint in its condition that you cannot let the offer pass by, simply go for the replica RS bumper, spoiler and alloys of your choice.
OR
Just add a pete's box (which ever stage you want to keeping reliability in mind)) for sleeper look. and beat the hell out of stock RS's on the roads.

Keep in mind that aftermarket parts will never match up to the fit, finish and reliability of OE ones. Plus, as some have said, summing up all the RS "accessory" prices would take you into used RS territory. Makes more sense buying the real thing, if you want the bells and whistles (and looks) of an RS.

Hmmm, I was under the impression that there's a remap available for the petrol, while the box is for the diesels. Or am I way off base?
