@wildchild.whats that stuff around the subs ?

Also what is your suggested mod to overcome the sluggishness at low rpm for the AVEO1.4?

wildchild ..May i know the filters that you have used & cost ? Also has the engine sound increased after the filter installation ? There is already a boomy noise in AVEOs at 1800-2000 rpms which is attributed to bigger engine valve mouths, as per the Chevy service advisor.

Headers are something I would not prefer to install now, as the vehicle is still new, just 1800 kms.

..The 3 years warratny though defenitely a boon, sometimes is a hurdle for the mods to happen !

The international U-VA( Aveo 5) looks pretty smart... Change the lamps and bumper and voila.. you got a great looking car.

Stock or SRI or CAI?

I have an Aveo U-VA 2008 make and have been hearing a lot about the performance increase with a K&N filter. With the stock filter, the FE leaves a lot to deserving and was hoping that the FE would improve with a K&N filter.

For a "not too costly" mod, what would be the best solution?

1. Replace only the paper filter with a K&N stock filter while retaining the filter box.
2. Remove the entire box and get a K&N SRI filter system.
3. Get a K&N CAI filter system.

Not willing to spend too much on the mod.
The environment condition here is very dusty.

Hey 'dutta_d1'

I own an '09 UVA and have replaced the stock filter with a K&N Stock Replacement. Costed me around 4.5k. It will give you a marginal increase in low end torque with the AC on in bumper to bumper traffic. I would warn you though not to expect a rush of power with the replacement or any miracles with the FE.

Since you mentioned the dusty conditions I would personally suggest you to tick 2. & 3. off your list or you will end up doing the cleaning exercise much more often than needed.

Hope this helps

SRI for the U-VA is a no-no. I used one for a month and there was excessive carbon coming out of my exhaust!

I have used a K&N replacement in the stock airbox in the past and it gives marginal improvements.

I am now using a GC Wind with a CAI. I have taken off the complete stock assembly from the wheel well and the CAI intake is routed into the wheel well behind the bumper. Have had no issues at all with dusty conditions, torrential rains or any such thing! The improvement compliments by FFE nicely and am very happy with it
