Turbocharged my '08 Toyota Yaris

hi
this is narry i live in shenzen china. before i had subaru forestor, i sold this i buy new yaris which was launched in china in june 2008
lets discuss the car.

the yaris which is launched in china comes in 2 version, 1.3 and 1.6. 1.6 is new version first time realsed in the world, and they realsed this in china because they want competite with honda jazz. well this is my first toyota and i choose 1.6rs manuel version because it has more power and can be modified. well my target for modification is as close as original or same specification as JDM mean japan domestic models.

so first mods:
change the tires with rim oem was 15 inches, i changed yokos 16 inches 195/50/r16 88v along with taiwan rims, after this still was not comforable so changed suspension to tien. after i changed tien suspension the ride was very noise, so used this for 1 week and decided to change. now had find a good tunner who could speak english lucky found one then new modifcation, put trd shocks kgs spring, changed gear ration to sports as as jpm specs.

then engine port and polish and also installed ice. all this modification took about 5 days keep the car in tunner.

first drive after modification this car has become total diffrent car, now really enjoying the ride.

attached some picture, will right more in next post

post pictures give me 2 days

hi
well the rims are copper gold. there was only 2 choice of colour 1 was white another was copper gold, since white get dirty soon so i prefered copper gold.

ok for mods to ad a few more:
exaust is fujistubo made in japan wagon ris type, also i wanted to do modification as oem as possible. the exaust sound start after 3000 rpm. as for speed after these mods i have driven until 160km after this for this class of car i donot find it safe, but normally i drive 130 to 140k. also i have change front disk brakes to API, because braking was a bit problems with oem brakes rotor disk is not api but from germany also.

some thing like to share, after port and polish engine temperature was high 100 c to 110, so i have fitted oil cooler now temperature is constant to 80 degrees to 90 degrees.

i would like to ask some gurus in this forum, is this normal after port and polish?

more will post along with pictures in next post

hello there welcome to TBHP, porting and polishing alone shouldnt increase your oil temperature so much. Has the compression worked upon and increased? If so yes temperature can increase.

Nice car, but I'd be more curious to know about the overall car scene in China. Which are the most popular with enthusiasts? How are the locally designed Chinese cars perceived? Emerging trends?

Narry - as Jaggu has mentioned, just porting & polishing shouldn't increase temperatures much, but a compression job surely will. My head temperatures are higher & I've had issues with my coolant hoses failing !

I think they are Defi Blue & Red 'Racer' gauges, these do not need the Defi controller.

hi
the car scene in china i see 2 segment of the market one is lower end product another is higher end product like bmw and mercedes
well frank the car market in china is new i mean sale of car start for normal person in china after 1980 when they open up to the world
so 95% of the car buyer is china is buying car for the first time
also car prices higher then most countries but still people are buying
soon it will over take usa to be no 1 car market in the world
i my metro city that is shenzen u can see more bmws that u can see in a usa city the middle class in china has really make good money and there buying power has increased
also honda is doing very well in china and german brands like vw bmw and mercedes doing very well also toyota
for chinese brand is ok but quality of then is not so good
but suprise aspect is the made in china car such mercedes bmws and vw
also not good quality as compared what they manufacure in there home countries
also suzuki cars quality worst if u compare it to india for example
but over all market is very bullist and people buying power is better
i hope u get some idea if u needed more infos u can pm me
regards

hi
yes with port and polishing had increase the power of engine very much
also after i have installed oil cooler this engines seems normal
i just back from 1200km drive and engine seem to be normal not like before when it was getting heated also engine temperate remain from 70 degree to 80 degree maximum goes 88 degrees
before with no old cooler it was 100 to 110 degrees

yes those gauges are delfi original made in japan
the left one is whitish blue is engine temperature and right one which reddish is water temperature
at this moment i quite happly
may be i will use this car for 2009 end of 2009 buy bmw 130i 6 cylinder
regards

I see a lot of similarities there between the Indian & Chinese markets. Yup, I hear you guys are keeping the BMW & VW bosses very happy too. The local Chinese brands may suffer from quality issues today, but I don't have a doubt on them competing with the Japs / Koreans in 15 - 20 years. Expect them to have the same value positioning. Just look where Hyundai was in the 80's and how respected it is today.

Suzuki has half the Indian market covered with its cars. Literally! However, outside of India (& probably Japan), Suzuki is pretty much a bargain basement brand with a very poor reputation.
