Team-BHP - Little work required for Palio 1.6 GTX

Hi Everyone, I bought a Palio 1.6 GTX a couple of months back and I need some help on the following issues and spares.

1) The 1.6 GTX sticker on the back is not there(only palio), but the RC book says it's a 1.6 GTX. Is there any place where I can stick one(In Pune)? Tried Bhandari motors and he doesn't have one.

2) I ran over a stone and heard a big bang. I think it hit the silencer as the car sounds like its got a muffler. I'm thinking of installing an FFE as I need to change the silencer anyways. I need one with a CATCON(to minimize pollution) and I'm happy with the performance, I just need a good loud sound from the exhaust to add to the driving pleasure. How much will it cost? Any one from Pune or Mumbai who does it for Palios, as I heard the headers in palio is different.

3) RPM not crossing 4000-4500 RPM in 5th gear. 1st, 2nd and 3rd I can push all the way to redline(7000 RPM) in no time. But 5th gear the car struggles to reach 160kmph and doesn't cross 165kmph(around 4500RPM)? Any reason for this?

4) Brakes are very bad, I changed the brake pads and everything but there ain't much improvement when braking at high speeds. Any suggestions from Palio users?

5) I'm also looking for a Leather gear knob which comes with GTX and a FIAT key chain? Any place where I can get it?

1. try out the local spare parts dealers for the sticker.

2. the installation of the headers is difficult - but it CAN be done - the entire thing (headers, pipes, end can) may cost between 6K-15K

3. if you are in the 5th gear (overdrive) the RPM @ 4-4.5k (the torque band) and @160kph - i think it is good enough - my car touches 140kph in 3rd gear at around 5K RPM.

5. the fiat A.S.S. in kolkata (Vahaan Motors) has the OE GTX leather wrapped gear knob - costs a whooping Rs. 2250/- (incuding tax) - the plastic ones cost Rs. 450/-. i donot have any idea about the key chain.

i guess max speed of 186 kph is under factory testing conditions.

since palio's brakes are not that good - with a load of 5 passengers the stopping distance will increase - drive safe. i guess that is one of the reason that you touched 165kph - it may take a little bit longer to touch high speed because of the load on the already heavy car.

silencer and muffler are the same thing - take it to the service centre - they will weild the crack for less than Rs. 500/-.

simply go to a modifier/tuner/accessories shop and fit a bolt on end can (HKS replica, remus, local ones) - a FFE with a catcon is not a free flow exhaust. get in touch with moralfibre (kiran) on the forum and i am sure he will help you out with an after-market end can / muffler / silencer @ Pune. :)
